Pro Tip: When using hand tools to bend metal, do a slight bend and work your way down. Gradually repeat until you've bent it to the angle you want. This will help prevent creasing the metal as you've seen in the video. I know it's too late for these guys to use, and I doubt they read these comments (as they're busy.) But this tip is meant for those watching and have limited experience with similar projects.

I'm so impressed with what you guys have achieved, I first caught your channel with the timber frame school after watching that I went right back to day one and I've watched every episode. Guys, I’ve been in construction for 38 years. I’ve been watching you toil and progress under all kinds of difficulties. From the start of your garage wall to the last sheet of roofing being installed. Yes sometimes frustrating for me because of the choices you’ve made and you worked out what’s required. Well done! Sometimes your safety makes me very nervous, Young lady you’re gold he is a lucky fella to have you. Now, don’t let Building your home turn into a nightmare with your relationship. Salad shooter is the BOMB! I had one for years. It made food prep super easy. They cost a pretty penny now. Holy goodness! I just checked and they're on sale! Thanks for mentioning salad shooter!

Look at a Fire Department Roof Ladder with hooks at the end. If you put a few boards under the top and bottom to raise it off the ridge, you should be able to put your ridge cap under it.

Just wait until you start joint compound! Lol. I feel your pain. Did a house remodel by myself, almost a complete gut and at times it felt like the work never stopped. Best advice is making checklists. It always helped me to stay motivated when I would cross things off! Keep at it. You guys will find your groove!

Wow ! I can't believe you slid across the top of the rig putting the temp. Rig cap on ! That looked pretty scary !!! The roof panels look great ! Can't wait to see the contraption you are going to make for going across the rig when you install the permanent rig cap !!! Thanks !

Good shots as always, congratulations for bulling it through. I like the nice neat little carts in the final shots for holding all the canning and other things with wheels on them so you can move them about. It will be a good roof for years, once you get the final touches on it, it is just vexing now.

im thinking they shoud have put the ridge cap along with the panels while they were puting the east side paneles up that way they would not have to go back to traverse over the installed panels and would have just needed to finish up with the manlift at the south end ,im just saying!!

They needed to re-order wider ridge panels due to the loss from the hemming on the bottom.

If you have an extra panel left, might want to consider building small roofs for your man doors to keep rain from getting inside if you open the door during a rainstorm. Also helps keep snow from piling up against the door if its big enough.

Hey guys, I love your videos and your dedication. I do think that after following your difficult sojourn it seems obvious that you would have been months further along if you had hired a team of specialists to work with you, one at a time like you did with the plumber to provide the expertise you needed to avoid the costly and time consuming mistakes. One thing can be said in support of your decision to ‘go it alone’ as much as you did is that it bonded you even more than you already were. It also gave you a ton of experiences (good and bad) that will help you the rest of your lives, whether you stay in this house or move on to try another.

have used plastic sheeting with magnets. worked fine thru t-storms. also wood shims and a screw at ridge edge to metal, over plastic sheeting. keep the plastic as short as needed

I like the magnet idea :) I have a fireplace shroud built from 1/2" Insulfoam exterior panels held on by magnets, pops off easily and as I'm a renter doesn't piss off management.

U guys are absolutely awesome . I am blown away by the innovations Y'all used for getting the roof panels up. U looked better than pros the way U teamed to do different jobs and Y'all functioned as A TEAM overcoming all those setbacks It warms me to realize that y'all will be able to move out of the camper into larger quarters for the winter. I am majorly interested in the next steps in Ur heating arraignments. My wife and I are advocates for thermal /radiant floor heating. God Bless Y'all and will the money from the swear jar go towards more tools or FLYING ??
