Building A New Entrance!

Wild Wonderful Off-Grid

3 жыл бұрын

The entire underside of our house is getting closed in with concrete and stone. Now that the concrete is finished on the south side of our house, we are focused on closing in the front and building a new entrance. This doorway will give us access to anything that may need to be tended to under the house and also give us a place to store ladders, rakes, outdoor furniture etc. As the forms go up and the concrete gets poured we can really see the exterior of our home start to transform!
Shop Our Apparel: www.bunkerbranding.com/pages/...
We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel "Wild Wonderful After Show"

You guys are so special! I want to help you a little, if you read this before you have all of your concrete forms up, and advise you of a mold release agent I have mixed and applied on my mold forms with a paper towel. Mix a mixture of 50% vegetable oil with 50% mineral oil in a plastic bucket and apply to the sides of your forms that will face the concrete. This will keep the concrete from sticking to the forms.

You know what stands out to me the most? When you were finished with your wall and ripped off the wood, where you saw, completed foundation enclosing, your little lady saw, BLANK CANVAS! I never had the desire to make art. That was never my thing. I never had coloring books or construction paper when I was kid. It didn't interest me. So to see that imagination and creativity in a child in places that I never did makes me glad the world has people like her. We need art in our lives as much as we need air, and she loves to make art!

Never to late to start, Jeremy. I drew awful stick figures and was sure I had no talent until I found a book called "Drawing With the Right Side of Your Brain" when I was in my 30s. Took one day to realize it wasn't that I couldn't draw, I had simply not been told how to look at what I was drawing. I still didn't sketch much, but found out I could. Then I discovered watercolor. By that time KZfaq had come out as a learning tool, so I started painting at 68. 😉

I am happy that you guys are well supervised by tom,Tom, and Chuck. It also makes my heart happy to see the children playing out in nature. Seeing that makes my heart happy. It makes me think of my childhood.

@@jerri0401 Seemed like a pretty straight forward observation from where I'm sitting in Hollyweird. 😉 But maybe since it's Erin's and Josh's channel we could keep the name calling and hostilities down to a minimum? People really come here to be inspired and feel good. 😃

Getting closer everyday. Erin your videography is just so amazing, clouds in the blue sky, American Eagle flying, the green grass and trees, the music and lets not forget the great footage of building the forms. Amazing work. Chuck seems to be taking more and more union breaks nowadays, you might have to give him a reduction on the treats. LOL. I think that you have the best sight on YT and I watch quite a few of them. Can't wait for the next episode.

My wife and I are fixing up a 150 year old homestead. The house is almost done and we are starting on the barn. When you do all the work yourself you learn the true meaning of what a "labor of love" really is. On paper it may not make sense, but in your heart it's totally worth it. I know so well what it's like to toil on and and on and on with projects that seem never ending. I also know the reward of getting them done and seeing your dream and vision come true! Keep up the great work! You are an inspiration to so many!
