This is probably the most "kit" that a DD40 Blue Box kit has ever been! I had some good trucks, the rewound motor from my other video and some other parts, so I decided to get a shell and chassis to make a complete model. It turned out well I think!
It runs well and pulls a decent load, but the chassis does have a lot of friction that puts a fair amount of stress on the motor, so if I ever come across another one of these motors for cheap, I think I'll rewind it to match the one in there already and make it a really powerful runner!
You can find plenty of DD40s around eBay and sometimes at train shows. It's not uncommon for those to go over $80 though, so I think I came out alright with this one.
