I have seen a number of other KZfaq presentations on making a spiral tree like this but yours is the first one specified the 13° angle and the lengths of the various groups. This is very helpful for a dummy like me and I appreciate it very much. Good job!! Thanks!

I think it would be a great improvement to sand the slats before assembly and also stain them or put some kind of finish on. Rather than brushing or wiping I would suggest using a small trough (such as a section of rain gutter ) and dip them in the stain. I would suggest using something like Ready Seal - especially for cedar! I think it would look better and also ready so you can put it outside. Of course other types of finish could make it look even more elegant, but would take longer to apply.

Glad it was helpful! I typically just use a saw and straight edge, but I couldn't this time.

These are cool, I really like the idea. Thank you for sharing with us. Have you ever considered making a double spiral? I was thinking if you made crosses with a lap joint in the center would it still have the same spiral effect, or would it get lost. Just trying to think it might make the tree fuller. Thanks

That's a cool idea. That would be a lot of half laps, but it might be worth it.

Big box stores have them regularly. I got mine in a big lot that I found on Facebook marketplace. I got them for about $.10 a piece for 200 pickets.

There are many videos out there on how to build it from a 2x4. I'm not sure how many there are from reclaimed wood or fence pickets.

Matthew Peach to be exact. Down to the measurements. The only thing different is he went fence pickets and made a slightly better base.

@@lostmoneygarage687 I'm sure he wouldn't. But since it's so similar it would be fair to point out that this came from another. I have made videos (tiktok) doing things from other channels, but I always give credit and my videos are always just an alternate take via material, sizes, and more.
