In this video I'm demonstrating how I skun a lamb using compressed air. This was only the 2nd time attempting this technique with the 1st time only being 10 minutes before. Take a look to see how it goes. Thanks for watching and don't forget to like, share and subscribe to my channel. Cheers

There was a chap in the cental King Country of NZ famous for skinning tens of thousands of possums using compressed air in the 1980's. Never was quite sure of his system. I had heard it was similar to this but actually seeing it done on an animal puts it all together! Much appreciated the demo .........! Just when you think you've seen it all you learn something new thanks again!

Seems to have worked really well here. I first heard of using compressed air for skinning in a different video. A fisherman got sent an alligator to eat; The alligator was a pet of some sort but had to be put down. He used air to deglove the skin but the skin was petty tough. It would only work on small patches at a time.

This is a 10,000-year-old technique in the Middle East / Persia to skin a lamb. They blow the air by MOUTH under the lamb skin, which it makes way easier, faster, and cleaner to do the job. What they do next, before taking a knife, a few punches on both sides of the carcass (like a punching bag) to open the air to the back area and continue putting more air into the carcass until the air reaches the back area and starts swelling (bulge). This technique works well on sheep, for goats most of the time but on cattle, won't be effective, especially on Calfs.

Hi BBT. It's interesting to find that you inflate the lamb before skinning. In certain parst of Nigeria we do the same, by blowing (yes you read right, blowing) air into a slot cut ito a leg joint. However, this is primarily to allow us to use razor blades to shave thé hair off the skin. We remove the hair this way because the skin is comsumed either as part of the cut in some instances but more commonly separately as a delicacy.

Last deer we got I was asked to bag the meat after caping it out. Mate remembered how his Grand father would skin the Lambs. Same deal, a small cut above the knee joint. Big enough to get a finger in and work it around to loose skin. The Grandfather then pursed his lips and manually and alone blew the carcass up. His beguiled grandsons massaged the beast to MOVE around more expelled breath from Grandad. A Farmer/ Worker from the Balkens usually made a vest from the fleece, after the BBQ.

You have definitely found a great way to skin a lamb. I am sure that as you work with your process you will find there are other animals you can do the same with. It would seem that if you could sell the hide that buyers would be more likely to purchase a hide that was not cut by a knife.

My friends Grandfather in his 80s still did this. Most young people won't try old ways. There is so much knowledge in old and new ways. The Karcher water blaster is perfect to remove the fat left on the Cape, of any fur pelt. You then immerse the Sin now minus the fat into the tanning solution...make a sheep vest. Modern twist to skinning and tanning.

As a hunter and trapper i have tried the compressor trick on many animals from deer to beavers and no ut does not help at all. It is fun to see them blow up . But it doesn't help remove the hide. You can clearly see with ever stroke of his knife the skin is still firmly attached to the body. And the air doesn't rush out with ever litte cut. Just watch him pull the skin from the brisket. I wil give credit were its dew. He did a great job on this sheep

Hi, I don't understand the way you did it, my father used the compressed air technique, but he would hang the lamb rear side up, he would then make a small incision on one front leg, between the skin and the meat, insert air nozzle in and shout air in, the skin would separate from the meat, and it was just as removing a shirt, the skin was not stuck on the meat anymore, you had to work to separate the skin from the meat?

Only just talking to a fella the other day and he mentioned this is how he did it. Swear KZfaq knows everything.

When I worked in Iran in the 70s the man who lived opposite regularly bought a sheep brought it home gave it a drink of water with a watering can , cut its throat, let the blood run into the gutter then make an incision behind its neck then blow the skin away with his mouth and skin it.

Thanks, I just call it a cradle. It's just a simple frame I made up to hold the front shoulders in the "V" piece.

I'm surprised you still had to fist the skin off it. I thought blowing it up with air would have loosened the skin entirely so it would just fall off. I'm thinking of doing this with deer, but it seems like a lot of work anyhow.
