Are the words "adoption as sons" from Ephesians 1:5 specifying justification or glorification?

@JesusIsLord777-lz7mg The blessings of Ephesians 1 are all things that happen to a believer once they have believed. John says we are “now the sons of God” in 1 John 3:1-2. Paul also claims we are the children of God in Gal. 3:26. So it is the current state of the believer. It’s technically different than justification, but it’s similar in that God looks at the believer as both righteous and His child. We will always be his children, even in glorified state. - Trent

@BibleLine I appreciate your response. However, I believe you avoided the question. When Paul says "He predestined us to adoption as sons" is Paul saying Christ A. Predestined us TO sonship (predestined us to believe, believing happens simultaneously with justification) Or B. Predestined us to glorification(meaning predestination ONLY starts AFTER someone believes) You believe calvinism is false, so your answer would have to be B. But I am asking you to clarify so that we can look at the word huiothesia, how it's used in Romans 8:15, Romans 8:23, Galatians 4:4 in comparison to Ephesians 1:5. Looking forward to your reply. Many Calvinists may very well be saved because at the root they tend to agree with the message. It’s mostly the nonsense TULIP stuff thrown in afterwards that adds to the confusion. Every individual is different though. We can only know what someone tells us. - Trent

Good question. It is true that all have sinned, all are gone out of the way, and all are sinful. We definitely do not seek God. Good thing you do not have to seek God to be saved. You have to "believe" in Jesus Christ to be saved. This is something God desires all men to do (1 Tim. 2:4), is patient toward all men to do (2 Peter 3:9), died so that all men might do (1 John 2:2) and freely gives everyone the ability to do (Romans 3:23-28). Anyone can believe. Once you believe, you are now enabled to understand and seek out the things of God. Yes, if you "seek," you shall "find." I think the point of Romans 3:10-12 was to describe the fact that no man is righteous in and of his own self. - Trent

The word synecdoche is not found in scripture, as well as the application in which you are trying to apply it. You literally took the word and applied it to the passage in Revelation and claimed that he does not mean everyone can be saved, but only a part. You cannot take the doctrine and shove it into scripture, but you must let the scripture speak what it says. Regardless, the passage does say "redeemed out of every kindred, people, etc..." and therefore it is not a great passage for us to use to determine if ALL really means ALL. It is a true statement that not ALL WILL be saved, but ALL CAN be saved. The scripture has evidence of this found in 1 John 2:2, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 Tim. 2:4, and John 3:16. World and All mean World and All... Dead in trespasses does not mean you cannot even believe something.. Dead simply means separated spiritually from God. Eve CHOSE to eat the fruit in the garden. Obviously God is the only one that can do miracles such as healing, raising from the dead, etc... But He did give such power to the apostles. That is something He clearly controls, and there is not good argument on that front as it has nothing to do with salvation. Faith does come by hearing, and hearing does come by the Word. Nevertheless you can reject the word. You can question the word. See Isaiah 1:18, Acts 7:51. He is the author and finisher of our faith in the fact that He actually died, was buried and rose from the dead. This verse is completely out of it's context in the way in which you describe. It is NOT saying He chose and gave our faith to us. It is saying that He made the way, He ran his race and finished work. Therefore we ought to run the race the same. This has nothing to do with our salvation, but rather our service after the fact. Ephesians 2:8 does not say that "faith" is the gift of God, but contextually and in the Greek, Salvation is the gift of God. You cannot prove faith is the gift using scripture.. If man has no free will, 1. How do you know you are saved as I am sure you still sin 2. Whole World means what?? 3. Do you witness to people? Why would you if they have no choice in the matter? @@BibleLine Synecdoche is used in every day speech. The Jews understood that A Part meant the Whole. One Red Man, Yellow Man, Brown Man, White Man and Black Man would be "All". However Many will be saved out of every kindred, tongue, tribe and nation. I Tim., Paul is speaking of All kinds of men, Kings, and those in authority, etc. not every individual. II Pet. 3:9; Peter is speaking of Scoffers who ask the Believers, where is the promise of his coming. He says, God is not slack concerning his promise, but is longsuffering to Us-Ward (Believers) not willing that any of The Sheep should perish. Not Goats who are lost. John 3:16; is referencing 3:14; that as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, those who "Looked - Believed". So the Son has to be lifted up on the cross to pay the debt for The Sheep and All The Sheep or Believing Ones will have everlasting life. This is not every individual. Dead in sin is spiritual Deadness and Man cannot Quicken himself by Free Will. Jesus said, I Quicken whom I will. We are born not of flesh, nor of blood, Nor of the will of man, but of God. God has to bring these Dead Bones to life and breathe His Spirit into him. Adam and Eve were created of corrupted dust. And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. Then God Called me out of darkness into His Marvelous Light through the Foolishness of Preaching and I heard His Voice. My Outer man still sins but the Inner Man does not sin for His Seed remaineth in me. He has Called me and has Justified me and one day will glorify me when this corruption puts on incorruption, and I shall see Him as He is for I will like Him, in His Image. Whole world - I have addressed above - it does not mean every individual. Do I witness to people? Yes - I do not know who the Sheep are, but God does. Man has to find a way to God by using his so called Free Will, so he teaches a counterfeit gospel and appears as an Angel of light and teaches Another Jesus, which Paul says let them be Accursed! Free Will is Dangerous in that it leads Man to think he can choose God. So if Free Will were true, Man could thank the Lord that he saved himself. You are teaching a False Gospel.

In 1 Timothy two, you are correct that he is referencing people in authority, but he says we ought to pray for them in lieu of the fact that God wants all men to be saved. Your "part" reference really does not fit there. You interjected "sheep" into that verse. Peter does not say just the sheep. He says "any." Well, yes it was all who "looked-believed." But he then says "whosoever" multiple times! Whosoever is whosoever. You are correct that man cannot quicken himself, but man can believe in Jesus Christ who will quicken the man. Jesus Christ did do the work, you are correct. It is not works for me to BELIEVE you if you are offering me your car keys for FREE. Jesus made the payment, and He offers eternal life as a FREE gift to all who will believe in Him. Faith is not the gift, but salvation is because the Greek genders do not match up between "gift" and "faith." The Greek language helps to shed great light in this area, but it also molds in well with the rest of scripture. Yes, the Spirit does not sin, but the flesh does. nevertheless, aren't you supposed to persevere unto the end? God makes you persevere right? How much? How little? How can you REALLY know if you are chosen if you do not have enough works on the back end? Is God really using you? There is no works on the front end or the back end of the scenario if you understand the grace of God. The idea of Free will is NOT stating that man is EARNING his salvation. It is only the true fact that man can make choices! We CHOOSE to trust God OR not trust Him. He did the work, and we believe in the payment He made. Romans 4:5 states that belief is not a work regardless of free will or not! I agree with you about Calvin. Forget what he said, let's stop clinging to doctrines to shove them into the scripture, and let's read the word for what it actually says. What does Acts 7:51 mean? What does John say in 1 John 2:2?
