Жыл бұрын

Many diabetes and nutrition experts will always swear by the most effective strategies for managing type 1 diabetes. And that's through healthy lifestyle changes - starting with healthy nutrition. As far as this community is concerned, that would be a low fat, whole food, plant-based diet.
However, it's hard not to be thrilled about the promising stem cell therapy that aims to replace insulin-producing beta cells in people with type 1 diabetes. When that becomes successful, one will be able to do their daily activities without having to check their blood sugar levels constantly.
Researchers indeed have made significant progress in understanding the mechanisms that control the immune system’s attack on the pancreas.
So let's talk more about type 1 diabetes. Most importantly, let's tackle the scientific community's milestone in beta cell regeneration research. Which, by the way, has both good news and bad news. What is the catch of a stem cell treatment that aims to regenerate beta cells? Is it suitable for the long term?
There's more to unpack from this episode, so keep watching.

Been type 1 for over 40 years. Had a libre 2 cgm for over 2 years & that is the best thing for me. You virtually always know what's going on with sugar levels. The last 12 months I was told by a friend from Macedonia, eat fresh grapefruit. I love grapefruit anything so I now have half a grapefruit most evenings. Also turmeric milk. I have half a glass of milk, about 2 teaspoons of turmeric powder & a bit of black pepper powder which helps the curcumin in turmeric be absorbed. Takes a bit of stirring & I have it cold but cud use warm milk instead. My glucose levels are about 75% in target most the time & insulin use down. Each to their own on this kind of thing but I've always thought I'll give that a try & see if it works.

We have been living a whole foods plant based lifestyle for 7 years. Our 12yr old daughter was diagnosed a week ago. Looking for other diabetic kiddos who eat like we do. We already avoided refined sugars and processed foods prior to diagnosis. It's very different than what the hospital recommends and we feel a bit isolated because of that. Any other folks like us out there going through this illness? P.s. I totally believe the cure exists, they just don't want us to know. Cause if we figure it out, these pharmaceutical companies lose that lifelong patient and money 😑 it's all about the money and always has been 😢

Type 1 here- I hear that!!!! Considering a whole vial of insulin costs less than $10 to make. Let that sink in. It’s out there! Don’t give up hope, but also keep living life!!! My best advice is to not get obsessed with finding a “cure” (like I did), rather, keep her as healthy as you can. Keep her a kid, let her have a childhood like all of her friends. Type 1 is genetic, so it has no rhyme or reason, even in the healthiest of families… However- Your family diet sounds awesome. Im trying to get myself in that boat as well. I’m so proud of you!!! As long as she’s getting enough carbs, the healthier the BETTER!! Also, diabetes is hormone related, so Hormones play a huge part with blood sugar, and her blood sugar will be up & down during her teens!! Might not be something doctors have told you yet. Be patient and understanding! It will level out esp in adult hood. Just stay on top of it and keep caring! You’re doing great!! ❤

I am living with type 1 Diabetes since 1968 I was 2 years old. Recently after starting to use ketogenic diet and fasting to get stem cell production I saw that anyways I could not produce enough stem cell I decided to get some injected and those were intramuscular. after 1 year I tested the c-peptide and I had a tiny production of insulin was at 21. after that I got injected furthe 30 milion cell in the blood but despite the revitalization tha was immediate the next c-peptide I've gotten recently was at 17 (to give a note the official diabetology hospital here in Denmark avoid to make this test again after seen that I had an improvement so it passed 1 further year after the new injection)I have to say the first one only worked not the new ones. Now I see that you suggest to keep low the fats too and eat chickpeas- In reality now I am on low carb than keto and for breakfast I am doing a Capucino with what they call here in DK Piskefløde 38% is cream I use instead of whole milk because keep my glucose stable the whole day and I do the same at 19:00. At lunch time is the only time where I eat some proteins amd veggies. normally I add some vitamins supplements and I take apple cider vinegar plus lemon every night this to protect kidneys and it looks good for IR. I want to try your suggestion about chickpeas on another of your videos, but I want to ask you one question about the Piskefløde. Do you think that 2 times a day 1/4 lt. is too much fat? My A1c is at the moment keeping at 5,8% (40 mmol/mol) not encurring in dangerous hyper/ipoglicemy.

What are your thoughts on Dr Valter Longo's fasting mimicking diet and its supposed ability to repair beta cells in type I?
@MrPokerblot
@MrPokerblot 4 ай бұрын
There is not much point in repairing the beta cells if your immune system has decided to defend against beta cells The main focus is to switch off the beta cell deletion process that the immune system mode in type 1 diabetics is in before anything else. So that is the most important step. Regeneration might possibly be relatively easy once the immune response was switched off. Switching off an immune response seems almost impossible. But I will not say impossible just yet. There is always hope in research.

Absolutely fascinating information!👍 These day, I use a whole food plant based diet and I just had my fasting insulin tested. It was 3.2 and I am blown away because I consume a lot of whole food carbohydrates. Is such a low fasting insulin level safe?
@sneakypress
@sneakypress Жыл бұрын
This is something we have been trying to determine for a long time. Our research suggested a fasting insulin level of 3.2 is a bit low. The reference range is sometimes quoted as about 3 to 24. Some studies show fasting insulin levels to be around 5 or 6 in the controls. Get a measure of the C-peptide, which apparently indicates, when too low, type 1 diabetes mellitus.

A low fat diet is not what Dr Bernstein recommends and he has had diabetes since he was 12 and is now in his eighties. He recommends a very low carbohydrate diet which is basically a Keto or carnivore diet and he has been studying Diabetes type 1 nearly all his life.

Insulin sensitivity terminology is important. This is what they are saying. I guess in carnivore diet, you would have to count carbs and insulin requirement would be more as compared to carbs. LFHC diet following will require very less insulin as compared to keto or carnivore diet. This one video shows how his insulin requirements reduced. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7mml8eqr5-mcp8.html

My grandson didn't know he had diabetes until he ended up in ICU with a blood sugar of over 1000. The Dr told him ; " I don't know why you're not dead." For some reason within a couple of months of him coming home his pancreas started working again but then stopped again within the year. Did his Alpha cells take over then burn out?
