An overview of the 7 quality defects I identified in the Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 EFI
1. Shortcoming:
The paint on the tank filler neck was not gasoline resistant.
2. Shortcoming:
Weld seams on the exhaust pipe painted over with silver paint.
3. Shortcoming:
Front disc brake with only moderate deceleration, spongy pressure point and relatively high hand force required
4. Shortcoming:
Rear wheel 10 mm out of alignment to the front wheel and chain adjusted far too tight.
5. Shortcoming:
The Pirelli original equipment tires had dangerously low grip even on dry roads and produced poor tracking stability
6. Shortcoming:
Poorly padded seat
7. Shortcoming:
The original equipment chain breaks in the middle of a riveted chain link at kilometer 4,166 at 100 km/h and almost destroys the engine.
Conclusion:
This retro bike is already a classic today, as it hasn't been built for at least 4 years.
Like the beautiful 500 single-cylinder Bullet models shortly afterwards, it unfortunately became a victim of the Euro5 emissions regulations with which we are currently saving the world.
But even today the Royal Enfield retro bikes are unrivaled in their beauty and value for money.
And anyone who loves classic motorcycles will find it hard to resist the charm of these machines, despite their low engine power.
Anyone who then decides on an Enfield should be aware that the low price is achieved, among other things, with significant concessions in original equipment quality. For your own safety, I therefore recommend that you carefully inspect the new machine for any assembly and adjustment deficiencies, observe the current experiences from other bikers' relevant Internet forums and change the tires and chain for quality goods immediately upon purchase.
This may save you from bitter disappointments or even avoidable falls and serious damage.
