Just got a new iPhone last month to my old iPhone 6s (Hello from St. Petersburg).

I’m from Russia and I’ve been using my iPhone X since 2019. Apple Pay is really missed since 2022.

Who buys the latest iPhone anyway? These gadgets are not cheap and many people even buy the least expensive ones on credit. I use a 3 year old entry level Motorola that I bought for a hundred dollars and it serves me well. Latest iPhone is just a gimmick. If you want camera you buy a camera same with everything else. I can access the internet and watch 720p videos on my phone and it has 5000mah battery and 6.5 inch display. That's all that I need really.

I use Iphone 6S Plus during 9 years. I like it so much and I dont want to change it for Android. Next one will be Iphone as well

I am currently working as a Python/SQL developer. Lived: 20 years in Russia, 8 years in US. Here, in the us, I am making $80k/year, this is my 1st year working on this position. And if you don’t have any active loans or expensive rent, $80k a year gives you a lot of leeway to buy things. How much would I be getting back in Russia, where I used to live?(not Moscow/St. Petersburg) My friend is also working his 1 year in IT, albeit he is working with 1C (Russian accounting platform), which has some similar some SQL principles I use. He started at 35000₽/month, I think his salary is to be bumped to 60000₽. Which is roughly $600 a month. Prices in Russia are generally 2.3 times lower than in the US. Do the rest of the math yourself.

It's really interesting even comparing the different customer service in the 3 stores I walked in. The Apple store staff really were happy at all. I think they were getting 1000s of questions per day about the iPhone15. That they just get tired of answering. This mall is quite unique as its owned by the company that owns IKEA. So, it's really down to them to find replacement companies to fill the closed stores quickly.

I can understand their frustration, i used to work in a Hi-Fi shop are a repair tech and was required to try and answer customers technical questions on the latest tech and it was always the same questions. The high street and mall stores in the UK were closing before the pandemic, the lockdowns robbed them of customers that now buy online, so a lot of them never reopened and the units are still empty.@@TravellingwithRussell

Apple products sucked since day one, their only advantages was the superior performance and better cameras, but for a price twice as high as it should've been and with a repressive restrictions for users on top (both software, like no side apps or app stores, and hardware, with a proprietary standards and licenses for the accessories). Not to mention wave of controversies with anti-repair activities, usage of degradable materials, old models slowdown and so on. Samsung also sucks big time today ever since they've figured out they're big enough to adapt the anti-consumer practices very similar to ones of Apple, if not worse: I can get over the non-removable batteries, but removing Micro-SD slots and mandatory use of expensive curved screens on their flagship models, which not only absolutely useless, but actually make user experience worse (also making grip worse, increasing the chance of accidental drop, which result the screen shattering with a much higher chance, since it now occupies three surfaces and no case or glass can protect it completely), is a new definition of bad for me, while them silently pushing anti class-action lawsuit demands into EULA with a minor software update notes is a plain evil. And the worst part is that more companies are following the example, because it seems to pay off well. Even their mid-tier devices are no longer a good deal - I've changed my Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 to Samsung Galaxy M51, and it is worse in a lot of a very critical departments: I had no issue playing PUBG on my previous phone, but on M51 it's just no longer possible since it has a terrible sensor with a random missing or shadow presses, swipe jittering and input lag; display itself is really bad with really notable grey gradient issues, also it has burned out badly within a first year (status bar and keyboard are visible); battery is technically bigger (7000MAh vs 5000Mah), but somehow it performs even worse; main camera has a wide lens for some reason and something off with a sensor, because not only I can't focus on a closeup objects, I can't even make a decent photo of a flat surface without it being blurred on the sides, and the overall image quality is lower, HDR is worse, but somehow each photo took three(!) times more space (until they switched it format from jpg to heic in a recent update). That's just from the top of my head.

Это не айфон переоценен, это ты даже не знаешь и половину его функционала. С тем же успехом можно заявить, что андроид переоценен, в сравнении с Нокиа 3310, ну а чего нет то? 😂 Многие так и говорят. Ты устройством пользуешься без связки с компьютером (ну оно очевидно, раз андроид), т.е. тебе по сути вообще от трубки ничего и не надо, ты ей пользуешься как чуть более продвинутым телефоном, ибо даже Виндоус Мобайл в нулевые годы имела больший функционал, чем современный Андроид.

I work in a shopping center and we have a food court with Burger King, KFS, Pizza, Sushi and several other fast food places. None of the employees have lunch there. We all go to the next building, where there is a traditional Russian canteen, which has not changed since Stalin's time. Firstly, it's half the price. Secondly, this is food that Russians have been eating since childhood. For lunch, a Russian must eat soup. You have no choice whether to have soup or not. You can only choose the type of soup from several. If a Russian doesn't eat soup for lunch, then he's an American spy. In all my life, I have only encountered a buffet in Russia in hotels where breakfast was included in the room price. I live in a 200k city 9000 km away from Moscow. Our stores are full of iPhones, food and stuff. Nothing factually changed.

По этой причине объявляю, что в магазине мы принципиально будем говорить: сочник, вместо сочень!
