any ideas about how off-roading will affect these clearances?
@ProfessorMikee3 ай бұрын
It will affect it tremendously depending on how much you are flexing the suspension

@@ProfessorMikee how much clearance is needed to preserve off-road performance? I’m torn between a 35x11.5 but I’d go down to 34” if I’d be rubbing out in the wild (given a 2.5 level on a 2021- style wheel well, stock 44 offset )

I have a 2016 f150 lariat and am going with the 2.5” level with the bilstein 6112 with new UCAs. What are your thoughts on fitting 34” tires and with what wheel offset would be best to reduce chance of rubbing?
@ProfessorMikee Жыл бұрын
on a 2.5 inch level, using stock wheels which are +44 offset i would not go any larger than 35/11.5 or 34/11.5 its not the tires height that wont fit, its the width, since your offset is so positive, the tire cant be that wide or it will rub on your upper control arm, going with 11.5 will be the max width I would go, which is equivalent to 295/65 or 295/60. if you go with after market wheels with more of a negative offset, 34 inch tires would be as much as i would go to have no clearance issues. I also would not go any wider than a 10 wide and no offset more than -18. hope this helps :)

Useful. Thanks. It's funny. A year ago before I started learning about all this, I wouldn't have understood much about what you said. Now I do. A question at the end. I'd love a Raptor, but my tentative plan is a new F150 Platinum,5.5' bed, loaded, with the Diamondback HD bed cover on the back. I want to level it, had been thinking less level rather than more, say 2" instead of 2 1/2" or even less if possible, but I can go a little higher if needed, and I do want a negative offset, just a little poke, but if a bit more poke, no more than 1", then I would like to add body colored fender flares to align, in effect a little raptorizing of the Platinum appearance. I would like to increase the tire size that comes with it, 33's, 34's, even 35's but that size seems unlikely without serious cutting. I would most likely want an All Terrain tire with the severe winter rating three peak designation since I live in mountainy ski country, though I do drive from sea level to high altitudes, from desert heat to the big winter snow storms, and I would most likely get real snow tires to swap to for winter time. I do more road driving than off, but some of both, but the offroad is more destination oriented rather than the crazy off roading fun of my youth. I currently have Falken Wildpeak AT3W's on my old Jeep and I love them, but the tires I get on the new Platinum could be another potentially. I do like the idea of a bit wider offset, towards that 1" range, and adding the fender flares as long as I could get them without those cosmetic bolts you see, but I definitely would want at least a little offset. In any case, and assuming you even see this, getting the new F150 Platinum later in 2024 most likely, what would you recommend for the height of the level (incl. any extra rear lift if needed), and amount of the offset, and max size of tire, hopefully avoiding any risk at all of rubbing or such?

I would like to install a bigger tire.... Nothing fancy! I was thinking in 33's , maybe 34's , no bigger than that. For example, 275/60/20, 33x11.5 or 33x12.5. My main concern is to rub with the UC. Right now the space between sidewall of the tire and UC is about an inch. Not sure if I will need to also install a set of spacers. Thanks
