I am not so sure you'd massage a wound, that may disturb the healing tissue beneath the necrotic dead tissue of the scab. I'm not an expert but I wouldn't massage a wound you weren't going to clean. At which point yes I'd wear gloves, not anything to fuss about but you'd probably benefit from not touching someone's wound leakage. I'd imagine it's not the end of the world to touch it with your hands however things have a tendency to hang up under the finger nails. Auto immune and blood born pathogens are a concern but if you know who you're treating I wouldn't think too hard just make sure your finger nails aren't too long when your scrubbing them. Personally I bite my nails so I just make sure if I touch something in the area of biohazard, that I scrub my fingernails better than anywhere else.

Nope, you're not. I don't like it because it hurts, but for some reason i just instinctually massage it, so I decided to look it up if it helps haha..

it helps by increasing blood circulation and helping to repair damaged tissue
