It's crazy that SGA is 1500. I'm in a HUD apartment that requires that you're on ss/ssdi if you're under 65. There's no more wait lists even for low income apartments in my entire state. I would be homeless on 1500/month.

On the SSA Web Site there's confusion about reporting wages. It states Report income, Wages, If you earn more than $1,050 gross income per month, report your wages online through your Social Security account. Then another section states: Report changes to work and income, You must report work and income changes to ensure timely and accurate payments. I would think you should have to report any amount of incomes earned from working. Is that correct?

Does that advice not carry its own risks though because if the SSA feels you are better (whether you are going to the doctor or not) could they not cut you off that way basically say that you are "working the system "if your medical record (or lack thereof) shows improvement ?

Still doesn’t make sense what you are saying Mr Ginsberg because in the beginning you said if you’re making over $1,110 it is considered TWP and that last 9 months with no penalties and you can still make any amount. Then you said to stay under the $1,110.?I’m more confused now

So Jonathan, I first started on SSDI in 2019, do I have to find the Trial Work Period dollar amount for that year or does it go up every year? For 2019 I'm guessing that the monthly maximum dollar amount was around $850 or $900, this year in 2024 it's about $1100, so which number do I have to stay below? I'm just trying to avoid making a mistake and losing my SSDI benefits, so I'm trying to understand all this . Thanks for all your expertise on this issue!

I’m planning to work a seasonal job only for 6 months after being approved. From what I understand, this is ok because it’s within the 9 month TWP.

Why can't you just say yes or no on the working as long as we only make a thousand a month as long as it's under sha or no you can try to work for a little while then you can't no more why is that Soo hard for you people to just give a straight friggin answer 😢😢😢

If I receive disability until I reach full retirement age, I understand that it will automatically switch to regular full retirement benefits...can I return to work without the issues, except of course, taxes?

Yes, you can return to work while getting full retirement benefits but your earning amount will be cut in half depending how much you are earning at work. You have to let a person at SS office know you want to go back to work but keep getting retirement benefits then they do the calculation for you. I have a friend who is 78 years old and does that in Florida. Let me know how things went

Sounds like a flawed system. So if i go to work after receiving benefits, then the ssa goes by trial work period numbers and not by sga Numbers?! So if i go to work after getting disability and earn below the sga (say $1,200) at the same time i am earning above the trial work period limits?
