Cannabis Breeding and Transmission of Hop Latent Viroid HLVd

Infected Female Plants
Higher transmission when the female plant is infected
However, there is still crossover infection even when the male (pollen) is the one infected with HLV
Can be as high as 43% in seeds, most of the contamination was found to be on the outside of the seed.
Limitations of HLVd
It can not become part of the genome of a particular cultivar.
What it Can Do
Impact epigenetics (expression) genetics of the plant.
Where is HLVd in the plant?
Viroid load throughout the plant can be very variable.
Multiple samples over the entire plant should be taken when submitting a sample for screening.

Having followed the HLVd spread for the past three years I have been making use of seeds rather than clones. So far with Zero rate of dudding. Has the supply chain reached a point yet where epidemiological tracing/tracking along supply routes produced any certifiable assurance of seed devoid of HLVd? Is something such as this available small scale through particular seed producers? Anything launched or launching on a larger or global scale?

Sure would be nice to know. Makes you wonder how many growers are aware of this. Thinking they cant dial it in meanwhile HLVd is whooping ass behind the scenes.

Not that is currently being implemented, but the more growers who ask and if you choose to purchase only from suppliers who can provide a test would likely shift the industry in this direction.

I wanna grow a property that apparently has hlvd before the last two years,what I can do, it remains in the environment, in the water weld pound, or the property is waste . . ?
