another wonderful sermon thank you I noted to my brother after listening to it that neither of us had ever felt envy and how lucky we were not to be built that way then my brother quite correctly noted that we were incapable of feeling envy as we are filled with arrogant pride it's alwaysl necessary to recognise there is none good but God

Very good sermon. To recognise envy in oneself is most difficult, yet the Spirit spears through all barriers (Heb 4:12-13), and uncompromised Bible preaching, very quickly exposes that subtle devil

As a southern baptist, I have greatly appreciated your sermons. The last sermon I watch dealt with worry. And how as a Christian, we are to give thanks, for everything, whether be good or unfortunate. I think as a Baptist, we are stuck on one groove of an old 78 lp. It’s after we are saved, we need to get on with life. And do life as a believer. Thank you. Pastor Doug.

Another person can answer better than I, but I think we can consider Jacob's actions as sinful, him trying to fulfill God's promise of his inheritance before God does, just like Abraham with Hagar. Every action the patriarch's did was not perfect.

Maybe you could do a sermon on how envy is the motor behind “stealth Calvinism“, Calvinist pastoral candidate bearing false witness and being deceptive to steal non-Calvinist churches. It’s such a problem that there’s a name for it. From my experience with this problem, you’re right, “whenever envy moves, someone gets hurt.“ (malice + envy)

Your worldview seems kind of skewed to me. Why so much focus on Calvinist/non-Calvinist? If I may humbly suggest that you seek for a clearer understanding of the underlying issues. You may have been exposed to abused by lied to or something by some horrible person or even a large group claiming a Calvinist banner, but their ways are not a necessary consequence of what turns out to be a rather nuanced system of theological positions as every serious student of Calvin (for and against) comes to understand.
@paulchamberlain4810
@paulchamberlain4810 2 жыл бұрын
@@KKbionic so you don’t think the same standard should be applied to stealth Calvinists? Or we should ignore this behavior when Calvinists do it? (Proverbs 11:1) Calvinists are quick to criticize, but often it seems slow to receive criticism. I do understand Calvinism. I’m a former Calvinist. I also know that Calvinists commonly critique others and their worldviews, noting how behavior flows from worldview. Applying the above biblical standard, it’s fair to critique Calvinists, their worldview, and how their behavior might flow from it, too. I brought it up here because for at least 15 years stealth Calvinism has been a problem, and Calvinists have overwhelmingly ignored it. I left my southern Baptist church several years ago when this happened. So if the envy he described is a bad thing, isn’t it a really bad thing when people are driven by it to take over Christian churches and abuse Christians. Also, a number of the people involved in the new woke movement were intergal to the Calvinist movement and stealth Calvinism. And we are in the odd position where Tom Ascol, his organization literally wrote the book on stealth Calvinism, is fighting the folks at gospel coalition, one of the organizations the deceptive Calvinist to took over my church quickly sign the church up with. Who are the good guys here? It seems many Calvinist only mind their bad behavior now that it is turned on them, too.

The child crying in the background should have been controlled by the parents. The enemy can use innocence to rob people of a heavenly Word based message for profound Spiritual change! Beware churches , let the delivery of God's Word be pure and undefiled by unnecessary distractions.

Something about 'Let the little children come to Me'.. I struggled with these thoughts before I had children, but it's not always so simple, and ultimately bet the issue is on our end in the attitude department. I also bet Pastor Wilson is more dedicated to that little one who's under his care in the flock there, than us brothers who are under the care of other, and rightly so.
@MrLeejunfan
@MrLeejunfan 2 жыл бұрын
@@22brianm Agree, many of us struggle with this. However, our opinion on any matter does not matter. The Bible must be the final authority on all matters concerning the church and our personal lives. The innocence of a child coming to Jesus has nothing to do with my comment concerning order in God's house. A child's innocence does not suddenly overrule scriptures on parenting, discipline, order in church and accountability. If we are going to quote, let's quote all of them pertaining to this matter. Last time a checked, children remain in a state of falleness until they are born again through the Power of the Holy Spirit. We as Bible believing adults and leaders who run churches need to be held accountable so the Word is delivered without distractions. Nobody is above the Word.
@22brianm
@22brianm 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrLeejunfan yes, the Bible must be our final authority, and we must let scripture interpret scripture, as well as be our lense for life. Whether or not this is a teething infant with a number of small children beside under the same household, or whether Christchurch chooses to have infants and children in the general assembly rather than in a children's or infant program, or whether this is a new or spiritually immature family just trying to hang on and figure it out, it matters little. You being the perceived more mature brother should be much more able to roll with the punches without being offended, if you are as such. Let the scripture be our guide->there is no such law of God against this, and i imagine this would have very much been common place and expected in thr multitudes listening to Jesus. Ultimately, whether there was ripe opportunity or not, if God failed to make a direct law on what you are so adamant about, you are the one adding to, rather than upholding scripture. How many children and or grandchildren do you have? While I certainly dont desire to be rude, I ask because this comes across as immaturity rather than maturity.
@MrLeejunfan
@MrLeejunfan 2 жыл бұрын
@@22brianmInteresting , you replied to my comment and not the other way around. Not sure where in my comment you perceived an offense? I can equally ask you what you felt offended by since my comment triggered you to respond? If Scripture must interpret Scripture ( which I agree with ) , then how did you use the whole counsel of Scripture to respond to me? Did not read any supplementary references? Nobody addressed law except you. Are you misinformed about law vs principles of biblical living? But what's most shocking is your understanding of Truth? Is the Truth about this topic absolute or relative? Is the Truth about this topic based on the number of children or grandchildren I have or don't have? Wow! Is biblical Truth based on my feelings and familial ties? Sorry to be candid , but the burden of proof is on you, not me. I'll attack the arguments, YOU CAN ATTACK MY MATURITY.

The problem with this message ... trying to suggest once-saved-always-saved is biblical. Friends. To say Lord Jesus died for all your sins conveys the idea that you have to do nothing going forward to turn away from the temptations you'll encounter in the future. Lord Jesus says go and sin no more lest a worse thing come unto thee. So for those who say going forward and sinning no more is impossible ... Lord Jesus says with God aka the Holy Spirit all things are possible. So the question: Do you know what it means to have the Holy Spirit? Further. For those who recognize a supernatural presence has made itself know to you ... how do you know it's the Holy Spirit and is not a demonic person who's lying to you telling you he's the Holy Spirit? Is it possible my friend that a demonic person will lie to you? The way Apostle John implies we test people an spirits to see if they are of God ... is to study the Holy Bible to show ourselves approved. We are to be as the Bereans who studied what they were told against scripture. Paul describes Bereas as more noble, etc. But the sin not unto death that Apostle John speaks is the sin one commits before Lord Jesus sends His Holy Spirit. That means the sins we commit after being given the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. But Lord Jesus is patient. He is long suffering. Because He shows us the water baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And Lord Jesus shows us foot washing. But if we continue willfully in sin. As Book of Romans warns: There remains no more sacrifice for sin. As well. Salvation is ongoing and continuous. As in today is the day of salvation. Not yesterday. Means start where Lord Jesus commands in Acts 17: v30 ... go to a man of God who knows the difference between titles baptism and baptism in the title-name-title of Lord Jesus Christ. Peace an understanding of Lord Jesus upon those who are looking for God. amen
