Mike Patey describes how he adds Kevlar to his bush plane Scrappy. Mike uses not only carbon fiber on the fuselage and tail, but he is now adding Kevlar to the horizontal stabilizer to increase strength and prevent rocks from damaging the design.

There is so much carbon on this plane you should paint only some stripes or accents and then just clear the whole thing so show off the beautiful fiber

This is why kayaks are made of a combination of kevlar and carbon fibre, which is interwoven into the sheet, as opposed to separate layers, like Mike is using. And it's for the impact resistance, a sharp rock etc won't crack the boat.

Mike, I'm a master auto tech/shop foreman plus I build race cars, engine, wiring, etc etc. You have a great eye for detail and think way ahead of your work. Glad to see someone like me in a lot of ways. Keep up the great work..
