It's time for Turbo Taxi to re-enter the fray. We've tasked Dandy Engines with the job of machining and assembling the bottom end of our Barra engine so we can finally go 10s with Turbo Taxi.

I never get tired of watching engine machining videos like these- at the very least, you know what you’re getting for your hard earned. Frank’s explanation of the various processes (aside from the secret squirrel stuff) is very informative and easy to understand for a dummy like me.

even 10 years ago they were top fucken blokes. I bought a old 308 with some work done to it by dandy engines. went for a test drive while it was still in the car, loved it, 2 weeks later it was out of the car with a refresh, on a engine stand ready to load up on a Saturday morning at dandy engines. (where the customers new engine was) not only the professionalism but i got a full tour of the work shop being a machinist that likes cars was a good day I have a barra now but ive been going to dynomite in footscray.. Id go dandy engines but Dynomite are around the corner from me and also top blokes with a great setup

i was always told to do rods/pistons one at a time, not because it's fast, but in case you get a problem where the crank won't spin. instead of chasing the problem rod set up to 16 times (in the case of a w 16) it's apparent then and there

Good to see pre heating the block . A lot of the time painting a used engine people complain about longevity. In reality though no matter how many times you surface wipe the block the casting is porous and will release old oils when heated. Makes a big difference with how long the paint lasts after opening the pores up.

It’s amazing how many lpg haters are out there I’m fairly sure it’s because they’ve never been able to make power out of lpg or given up after the first attempt it does work there’s just alot of mucking around with the problems that occur with it and to get around those issues is quite difficult sometimes but it works fine when all the problems are rectified and oh funny as I was told that 24thou ring gap was way to big for my lpg turbo six that I put together 2 years ago and look out the professional engine builders are going the same gap for the lpg 😉when you’re shoving in 20psi plus and a fuel that burns nice and hot we need ring gap All I can say is good on you for being persistent and sticking to your oringinal goals Scott hope it all goes as planned and you go faster than you intended cheers Anthony
