Carnosaurs are an actual real life thing. It's the family to which Allosauruses belong, including the massive Giganotosaurus, larger than a T-Rex. (not to be confused with Gigantosaurus, which was a sauropod herbivore, like diplodocus). Obviously these guys are just using it as a generic name for a scary carnivorous killer though.

Okay so the term was made due a translation error from spanish to english and wasnt used until sometime in the 90’s so the odds of this poking fun at that mistake and then spawning the actual use of the category is pretty high up there.

I remember this one story my cousin Jesse told me. It was about a friend of his who took some bad shit, and he was running around through the night, as he thought he was being chased. He called my cousin after a while of running around our city at night and begged him to come and get him because he "thought a dinosaur was chasing him." LOL WTF... Of course, Jesse talked him down from his manic state and came and got him. That story ALWAYS reminds me of Carnosaur for some reason, haha!!

There really was no escaping dinosaurs between the years 1993 and 1994. Besides the obvious blockbuster Jurassic Park, and the shameless Roger Corman ripoffs Carnosaur and Dinosaur Island, there was We’re Back, The Flintstones movie, The Land Before Time II... and who could forget the cinematic treasures that were Tammy and the T-Rex and the Super Mario Bros movie? Plus the Dinosaurs TV show was still running, and one of the most popular video games was Primal Rage.

Mr Shambleface how about Prehysteria or Theodore Rex? Or that that show : Dinosaurs?
@danstiver9135
@danstiver9135 6 жыл бұрын
Temmie Plays! I forgot all about Prehysteria, I did love Allison’s review of that. I purposely didn’t mention Theodore Rex because it’s from 1995, and I was just looking at ones from ‘93 to ‘94. The Dinosaurs movie actually started three years before Jurassic Park in 1990, part of a Dino boom that followed the original Land Before Time (1988).

Carnosaur came out before Jurassic Park so it can't technically be a ripoff.

Oh, man, this brings back memories! When I was a kid, I made my mom rent this and watch it with me... Watching her reactions to its awfulness was more entertaining than the movie itself... so much so that I repeated that when the next two in the series came out. Glad to see the movie get recognition here!

Siskel and Ebert got way too much stock put into their opinions than what was reasonable. People treated them like the be all end all to movie criticism. Just because their opinions were often spot on, doesn't mean that they didn't sometimes fuck it up.
