Wow, the OG episode of TA fishing, where it all began on KZfaq... Absolutely love this channel, you've got the same sense of humour as my Gramp who got me into fishing, brings back many happy memories watching this channel..

Common carp have even scales all over them.Mirror carp have different sized,generally large scales scattered randomly.They are not malformed.Its the way they are. A leather carp has no scales at all(Getting rarer now) and a "Saddleback" has a row of scales along its back.Those are the general types.

I experiment a lot with paste baits on my local commercial fishery and I make all my own baits and experiment with flavours as well as colours. I have been doing this now with some great results but one bait I have came across recently which I spotted in the supermarket and which works really well is marzipan. Just a simple packet of marzipan in a packet in block form is great to use as paste if you need bait quickly for a spur of the moment fishing session. The best thing about it is that it's already coloured and flavoured so all you have to do is take it out of the packet, wrap it around your hook and you're ready to catch a fish. It's a really good bait and it works really well and I would strongly recommend you guys giving it a try! I have caught Carp, Tench, Golden Tench and Bream with this bait.

Have you tried just bread on the hook?

Ian, Ian I have a question do you use fresh bed or stale bread because a friend told me to use it stale but I’m almost certain he’s done something to keep the bread together but I have used fresh hydrated bread and it’s much easier to keep on the hook.

@PremiumSniperx Thanks - the pellets used in this video are your bog standard trout pellets which you can buy in tackle shops or alternatively you can buy them in large sacks at trout farms.

Both hard pellet feed, but possibly made up of different ingredients. You would need to check with the manufacturers to find what's in them. I would feel confidant in using either for making paste baits.

you can freeze almost any bait/groundbait mix, it saves you money in the long run! the only thing with freezing your groundbait is that it might lose its consistency.

??? Brown what ? Pellets ? Yes, I think most pellets are brown. Some are almost black depending on their level of oil content .There is a red one called a blood pellet that dissolves quicker. We use it on big Catfish.

No idea. Someone must know. I just make a straight paste with hot water. But if you found the right mixture I guess you could "skin" them so fish don't nibble it away. My paste fortunately only gets "nibbled" by carp.(and Tench/Bream)

@456carper Don't know if you can get it online.Most agricultiural feed suppliers will either have it in stock,or can order it in.Its really cheap for a big sack.Good luck,and don't forget to add bread etc to it.Good luck,the T/A crew
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 12 жыл бұрын
@hibs02 You can get a huge sack of dry bran from an agricultural feed supplier.They feed it to horses.Only about £7 or £8 for a big sack.Keep it dry and it will last ages. Trout pellets you can buy from most tackle dealers.Its cheaper to buy a bulk sack,and some of the modern pellets might need a couple of minutes with scalding water.Sinking pellets take longer to soften than floating pellets.Both catch. Graeme.

@101hawking If you have tried mixing it with flour and it does not firm up,try a fine groundbait,or even some bran.My guess is it will make a better consistency with some fine white groundbait.If it gets sticky all the time,keep your hands wet by washing off any surplus.Its pretty much trial and error,but I use it soft as I generally fish close in.Good luck.The T.A.Crew

@stephen88hox The water temps will still be a bit low this time of year for tench,so I would advise using lobworms about a foot behind a swimfeeder with a groundbait/maggot mix.Mags don't wriggle much in cold water,but the worms do. Or try small redworms,or brandling.You might need 2/3 on the hook but they wriggle and attract fish in.Good Luck.

You should be able to get bran from agricultural feed suppliers,like those who supply horse feed.Its way cheaper,and many tackle shops don't even stock it.I bought a large 20kg sack 2 days ago,it only cost me a bit over £8. You might also check out some bulk sacks of dog food,it is also a lot cheaper than tackle shops so you can afford to throw more in.Look up feed suppliers in your search engine like google,see if there is one close to where you live

I like to use paste..I made some out of Trout Pellet powder which worked well. I also use my own recipe..Tuna/Breadcrumb. I bought some processed Tuna from one of those Eastern European shops which are popping up everywhere. It comes in luncheon meat sized tins and it's basically a block of soft Tuna..mix it up with some bread crumbs to the right consistency and you've got a very effective and cheap bait. I bought 4 tins for £2...obviously prices will vary but it's not at all expensive.

@Jaak_the_Belgian
@Jaak_the_Belgian 8 жыл бұрын
Hi, the paste stays on the hook better, so you can cast a little further. Without the grass stem, the paste will easily separate from the hook if you try to cast far. Kind regards, Jaak.
