Thanks. I'm sorry I didn't shoot more footage of the actual show, but I was a little busy running between the two show cars I had to represent. Maybe next year, I'll have more time to shoot video!

Thank you. Although the cars judged under Ferrari Club rules are not supposed to be judged against one another like at Pebble Beach, it's still hard to win an award when the competition is at such a high level. I'm fortunate the car held its own!

Seeing the ideas you have for a project and the Beauty of those stunning vehicles leave me excited. The older I get the older the cars I love to see as well. When you showed the Dino: Those cars were nearly dime a dozen when I was young. I grew up in a rich neighbourhood. A Porsche 911 did not get me excited at all, many rich mothers would go shopping in those Porsches or drive their kids to kindergarden and school. To be honest, a 911 does not excite me today neighter. The Italian sports cars of the Fifties and up to the Midsixties were and still are among the most stunning cars ever. Congratulation for those awards. You work very hard for those. Me personally I like cars that you can drive without being scared as Hell using them. All my cars have certain flaws and I do not mind the patina they all have.
@tomyangnet5 ай бұрын
I'm a big Porsche 911 fan, and have been all my life, but secretly admit their commonality makes them less desirable to me. They do everything so well, and I love to drive and use my 996, but comparing them, talking about them, showing them is just not the same as a 50-60s Ferrari. If I needed a car to drive, I would choose a Dino, or a 911, without doubt, but there's an old world craftsmanship about these limited production cars of the 50s and 60s that were built one by one in Italy that makes them special (and sometimes frustrating) that attracts me. I know a lot of these cars have already been restored, but it's a challenge to find another one!
@beatglauser94445 ай бұрын
@@tomyangnet It is a fact that a 911 is nearly to reliable: We had a customer showing up at our body shop with an early 911. He said he was not sure if it would make sense to restore it still. It had been his daily driver for nearly twenty years in summer and in winter on salted roads. Of course the car was crusty and worn and thirty years ago those Porsches did not have the crazy value they have today. When we asked him about the mileage he told us it had 420 000 km on the odometer. With the original engine still running. You could not use an Italian sports car like that. We suggested not investing to much in the car anymore. The crazy Italian vintage cars have something speaking for them: Beauty, class and rarity. But being reliable and simple to maintain was not something they were and are famous for. Most of those vehicles got unceremonisly scrapped. I had a friend (RIP) who had worked for Enzo Ferrari and Lancia in the Fifties. He was one of the first people to save those cars and saw the value, beauty and rarity in them before the value of those unique vehicles skyrocketed.. ¨ Today it is hard to imagine: His shop was full of incedible cars. Lancias of the late Thirties, Alfa Romeos of the late Fourties, even Cisitalias and a lot of Lancias from the Fifties and early Sixties. He owned one of the first Ferraris for road use, It was from 1948 or 49. He said it was VIN 148 (or was it 152?), if I remember correctly. My Dad was professional coachbuilder, so I saw very special cars for Decades. Later on he worked for GM. As I am not rich I used to drive and own mainly FIATS and GM cars. Most of my classics are American GM cars. They are cheap to maintain and are very reliable.

That PF Coupe will be tough to surpass, it was always my favorite to look at - congrats! In terms of cars, how about going big - 365 Cal (if you can find one); I haven't checked but I don't think they have gone as high as many equivalents.
@tomyangnet5 ай бұрын
365 Californias are pretty rare, let alone finding one in need of a restoration. I have often found the design of that car kind of quirky. The trangular shaped tail lights, and odd pop up headlights seem to give it an identity crisis on which decade it belonged in.
@arts.40145 ай бұрын
@@tomyangnet Oh, I don't disagree, I much prefer its immediate predecessor - the 500 Superfast, neither of which have the elegance of the PF Coupe you just finished. Yet, somehow in person the 365 Cal has a charm. My opinion has a bias, having been around one that was regularly used (growing up, a neighbor was a long time owner). Probably a moot point, but if an opportunity arises you may want to poke at it a bit before blowing it off... :^)

Congratulations! Fixing last years points deductions and expecting a higher total this year is logical and objective but is super risky because judges are 100% subjective in what they seek and look for. Then again, your client may be more whimsical than last year as he had already attained Platino.
@tomyangnet5 ай бұрын
I fixed last year's points deductions, and fixed two things that I know they missed, and I still wasn't expecting to go any better! To me, and Platinum is a Platinum, so I'll take it!

Are judges aware of what the car scored in years prior? It seems odd that make corrections and get more point deducted.
@tomyangnet5 ай бұрын
Yes, the judges should know what the car did prior, but new judges may see things the last ones missed. It's not very precise. I've been working with judges to get some kind of consistency in judging, but it's not easy!

Congratulations, must be very satisfying, even if the post-win crash hit early next morning with the logistics!! I saw a 1962 250 GTE project for 50k, but being in Hungary and evidently no engine, probably not much interest for you or your client, unless they wanted to EV it…
@tomyangnet5 ай бұрын
Thank you, I am still very happy. The logistics is just part of the job, but something very few people see when showing a car. Yeah, it has to be a complete car, despite needing a restoration. Thanks for offering though!
