Updates on the cars I have at my shop, and thinking about sending my 330 America to Wisconsin for the Ferrari Club National Meet in September and driving her back. #tomyangnet

Your right about the owner helping in the restore and the steering wheel is probably one of the best things the owner could do. Everytime he drives the car they would see it and hold it

Every time I drive my car, I remember refinishing my steering wheel! Thanks for watching.

For the "rusted" carpeting, I would ask Iain Tyrrell (Tyrrell's Classic Workshop youtube channel) in the UK, his interior man Craig might have a suggestion.

Great update! All exciting and fun projects, but too many at once! Don't know how you keep it all straight. Ship the 330 out, drive it back and video it for your channel. Recommend PPF some of the low / vulnerable areas in case you get into some bad roads on the way. Love love the Dino! If you are making so many upgrades like radio, lines, and AC system ditch the pump, it's now a driver. Was eyeing the Sunbeam in the back, thanks for telling us about it. As a TR6 owner, British cars don't mind living in the garage. It will just leaving you love letters in oil from time to time.

“Love notes on the floor.” I love it! The video of the drive back could be epic, even if I break down!

Thanks for the update, Tom. Give the Alpine to your daughter and have her bring it back to life! 😁

Such amazing cars in your life. That Dino is a jewel: I take rugs like that to the power washer so they don't fuzz out, after a good soap soak.
@tomyangnet4 ай бұрын
I'm afraid a power washer might be too powerful and pull the fibers out of the backing. This original stuff starts to get pretty fragile. I'll take a look. Thanks @RichardMichaelOwen!

Tom, great update... love your channel. If you're driving back from that show, and pass through the Niagara region, I'll buy you a beer at a great local brewery. Cheers.

That process might be gentle enough, but I wonder if it'll loosen the rust stains. I'll have to find someone in my area that does it. Thanks for the thought.

Wish I was closer and could join you in the 308, it needs to be driven badly. I really wanted to drive it out to Amelia but ended up in my NSX instead because of the weather. We very briefly spoke there, was nice to meet you.

If the air pump is not visible from above, leave it out. However, clean it up and keep it with the car. For the sake of originality, whether the air pump is attached to the engine or in a box in the trunk, there is no difference.

@@tomyangnetYes in Germany we always put 0.5% two stroke oil to the fuel we call it "Obenöl" on classic cars.

If most of those 1500 miles would be on an interstate, and a tight timetable I would forego that trip in favor of regional drives on state roads, to weekend destinations, peppering the months ahead. Duchess county, the Berkshires, Finger lakes to name a few.
@tomyangnet4 ай бұрын
I would try to keep off the interstates on the drive back. Thanks for watching!

Oxcylic acid (sold in crystalline form as 'wood bleach) will convert red rust to iron oxycilate, which is clear. Obviously you would need to make a mild solution but even if you need multiple applications it would completely eliminate rust.
@tomyangnet4 ай бұрын
I'll have to get some and try it out on a hidden spot on these carpets. Thanks for watching!
@jimurrata67854 ай бұрын
@@tomyangnet Are these carpets wool, polyester, what? I know the blood red carpet in the '66(7?) 330 was not a natural fiber, so would be somewhat resistant and could tolerate a stronger solution. At any rate, best to err on the side of caution. You can always repeat the treatment but you can't fix something eaten by acid. (I hope this helps you with your restoration)

I know Ferrari is a different ball game in terms of "originality," but I vote get rid of that airpump! First thing I do on any euro car of the period; all that junk has got to go. They're heavy too!
