A Potting Bench is a great place to work and an excellent way to keep all your gardening supplies neat and organized. In this series Steve uses construction and trim grade cedar lumber to build a highly functional and beautiful outdoor garden potting bench.
In Part 4 the worktops get made, including the tricky slotted worktop or "grate." Also learn a couple of tricks for cutting short small pieces on the miter saw.

Another great video, Steve. Thank you for sharing. Your bench idea is a really good one and i might have to try and make my own.

I have just started watching your show and I love it. I see you use a BOSCH Miter Saw. I would appreciate knowing why you got it and if you are happy with it. I am thinking of buying one and would appreciate your input.

Looks like a great project and neatly done. In the part that you showed with the miter saw and the zero clearance fence you had a stop block and another spacer block. You take the spacer block out before the cut. Does that prevent the blade from throwing the piece of wood?

Yes sir, Mr. Klein, that is correct... the spacer block up against the stop block could bind and cause a kick back or a kick out, either one of which is potentially dangerous. By removing the spacer block, the work piece is free to move and not bind with the saw blade. Also, remember to always release the trigger and let the blade come to a full stop before raising the miter saw blade at the end of a cut. Thanks for watching!
