A constant debate among cruisers is whether you should book Shore Excursions through the cruise line, or with a private tour operator? Amy and I actually believe you should book with both, but we also enjoy exploring on our own also. In this video we explain why booking at least one Shore Excursion with the cruise line (in this case Celebrity) is probably a good idea.
We go over the positives and negatives of booking a shore excursion with a cruise line and the positives and negatives of booking a shore excursion with a private tour operator. Which route you choose can also be determined by the port. Some ports are a considerable distance from the major attractions, while others don't even require a tour to see all that's offered. When your ship is scheduled to depart can be a consideration. Is the particular port considered safe, or are there legitimate concerns about your safety while there? All of these factors must be considered.
