Amy and I recently took a 12 night cruise departing from Hong Kong and ending in Singapore which included multiple stops in Vietnam and Thailand on board the Celebrity Solstice. This would be our second time on a cruise with Celebrity. The first of which was on board the sister ship Celebrity Reflection 11 years ago. Our first experience with Celebrity was excellent, but the cruise line industry has changed quite a bit since then. The pandemic has had a major effect, and the majority of cruise lines have had to make cut backs in order to remain profitable. So would we enjoy this trip on board the Celebrity Solstice just as much?
In this video we discuss a number of key factors that are important to most cruisers when selecting a cruise line. We evaluate the ship itself, the service provided, the activities on board, the food, and the overall experience. We comment on the highlights, and make you aware of what was lacking also. This review is our 100% honest opinion. Celebrity didn't request this review or provided any compensation for it. For reference Amy and I have cruised with Princess, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Norwegian, and Celebrity so we do have a fair number of similarly priced Cruise Lines to compare to.
The Celebrity Solstice was built in 2008, has a passenger capacity of 2850, and is crewed by 1250 staff.
There are an assortment of restaurants, bars, multiple pools, a spa, theatre, gym, casino, art gallery, and of course shops on the Celebrity Solstice. Two things that stand out on the Celebrity Solstice are the Le Petit Chef dining experience, and a Breitling Watch Boutique that you won't find on competitor cruise lines.
The Celebrity Solstice has a classic cruise ship feel, and despite it's age is well maintained. The size of the main dining room, theatre, and pool areas are large enough to accommodate a large percentage of the guests so we rarely had problems getting a seat. The number of staff is more than sufficient to take care of all your needs, and response times were exceptionally quick.
