Cerwin Vega played well within its frequency range, when the tweeter was added it balanced it out just as a component system would. The American Bass played well above its frequency range into tweeter territory making it more like a coaxial speaker and no real need for an additional tweeter.

The cerwin vega with tweeter had more depth and American bass had better sound quality and way louder even without the tweeter American bass sounds awesome

Finally a cerwin vega review,I use the 6.5 cvp65 in my 2021 corolla hybrid with the factory head unit. They play loud on just a few watts,wish you would review them,more reasonable price than their stroker series. Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!

Another great comparison! But I was wondering when are you going to test the horn loaded 6.5 and 8 inch speakers ? Im very interested in running some in my truck. Please review them soon. please thank you.

I am running one Cerwin Vega Stroker in the rear of my car audio setup. It really does sound like this. Kinda dull on it's own but I always figured it was supposed to be like that. I'm no expert. Maybe it blends better with a full system to fill in the gaps? It did seem slightly more bassy but the clarity of the American Bass was very good. I've wanted to run my rear tweeters up in factory dash locations to reflect off the windshield. To compliment the aftermarket dash pod speakers. I love the surround tweeter effect also coming from behind me but maybe with the American Bass high clarity instead in rear firing forward (behind/between the rear seats) I could gain by moving the Infinty 3.5's up into the dash. Hmmm only gonna cost me a few feet of speaker wire. And $55 for one of these American Bass 8's is very worth giving a go. Glad your testing midrange 8's because that's my jam. Your past 6.5's are also quite interesting. Thank you!!

What amp and wattage would you recommend to go well with the American Bass speakers? I have a JL jx360/4 and a Skar RP-150.4 AB. And thanks for all the reviews. Well done. 🙏🏿💪🏿👍🏿

Try the cerwin Vega ph654. I currently have them and also the 6x9 version on my vehicles I like them but would like to see your input on them.

Have you tried adjusting the voice coil bias on the cv? Can be adjusted for clarity or spl.

I looked at the DB meter all the time.. to me.. the vega played higher db.( allways 2-3db higher)i liked the sound better but for sure its diffrent for u(i was using high quality headphones)

For real, you don't get any good clarity out of speakers till you have 35-40hrs of decent volume

Comparing a brand new vega vs the American bass that you've had a while is not a fair comparison in any sense, Speakers take a while to break in and one of the reasons for lack of clarity in the vega. I guarantee with about 35-40hrs of use they'll have much better clarity and bass
