Thanks for hanging out and listening to me discuss and vent about what the whole process has been like so far and what challenges (and celebrations) I've been going through on this journey. It's been a hell of a process so far but I know we will make it there.

Did medical and insurance staff say, “why don’t you want it now.” And, “are you even serious about getting it done?” I would report them if I were you because they have no right to say those things to you. They need more training for one and be a kind human being for two! I’m also nonbinary (agender)and I’ve been following your journey. I love that you educate yourself on surgery. I work in healthcare and I’m chronically ill so I hear ya.

Literally yes two different people from insurance have given me such a hard time about trying to schedule so far in advance. It’s been awful! And when I report people o get worse care so. 🙃

This whole process sounds nightmarish, and is the exact reason I held off on seeking out surgery for my chest as a nonbinary person. I feel stuck right now because I want my surgeon to understand where I'm coming from, but at the same time I don't want to risk getting worse care just because I'm not their ideal patient.

also the level of care, planning, and research you put into everything you do, including this, is so admirable. you’re so thorough, intentional, and detailed, and it shows with how you operate, communicate, and educate. it’s really cool.

I had pretty significant dog ears, and the revisions were done in-office with local anesthesia. So. Awake surgery. No surgery center, no anesthesiologist. I had similar anatomical concerns and still had the dog ears with the additional lipo during the original surgery. I had to pay cash because there is no way in hell that insurance would cover it where i live. And after one dog ear revision they're still pretty obvious. I'm still fighting them for another one. It's a struggle and i wish you well.

Sorry if you've already explored this, but could your insurance, or doctors put you in the higher BMI category? Good luck and keep fighting for yourself, sending virtual hugs

I had the same type of anatomy (my incisions went nearly to the table). I did have some minor dog ears under the arms that wasn't puckering but was a bit heavy under my arms. My revision was done under local anesthetic and I didn't miss work (I did have to take some breaks midday to ice pack, but I was able to return to work the next day with only slight restrictions). The ideal is definitely not needing a revision at all, and I agree it would cost insurance less to just do it right the first time than it would be to cover a revision, but if it comes to it, a revision will likely be a much easier process than the initial surgery/healing period

The scheduling part being a disaster is so real. Just today I was told that in order to schedule, I had to submit the same info online that my surgery center already has, yet the website is broken and wouldn't let me submit anything. They told me they would review it and be in touch with me later.

I haven't even been able to get a consultation, the places I've contacted are scheduled a year out just for the consultation and then an additional year or more for a surgery date. I'm also in WA, idk how you got so many consults.

I started my consult process about 2 years ago, and I’ve only done 2 with WA surgeons- most were out of state. But it has been a long long process.

The fact that you’re asking you if you’re “sure” about this, and asking you why can’t you just get “normal” surgery.. All of this definitely sounds frustrating!! I’m sorry you have to deal with this! I hope you find someone who works with your gender identity 🧡

Hey beautiful soul, I had a question regarding the your outside passion of suspension art. Will that be affected by the surgery? You don’t need to answer if it’s not appropriate and more than happy to delete the question if so ☺️

You should be able to set up a payment plan. $50 a month for forever. They can’t say no since they’re getting paid. That’s what I do with all my medical bills. “Your credit card will expire before you finish paying.” Yes, yes it will. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

my most traumatic medical experiences have always been with doctors who were considered experts in their fields. it's truly the effects of late stage capitalism, they want it to be like an assembly line and to get u in and out as quickly as possible

Always, always get it done right the first time. Every additional work is more scarring & pain & healing. I tell my body piercing clients that same thing. That physician is ridiculous saying 9H JUST HAVE AN ADDITIONAL ONE,like it's no big deal. WTF I followed Ash Hardell's KZfaq channel. She went through it a couple of years ago or so. Yes our insurance & Healthcare is stupid. Most doctors & clinics don't have your best interests in mind. If they did they would try to get everything done the first time and be done with it. I really dislike doctors, it's a huge runaround to get anything done. They seriously act like the world.Revolves around them & n9 one else's time matters. Sorry Lynn. You will make it, Don't buckle under their B.S.

16:48 I can't believe people would say that to you, that's awful! "Why can't you just be normal?"???? if i could just be normal, I wouldn't be trans! what ar awful thing to say

Please do not do this to yourself, do not fall for the contagion. Doctors are not treating people properly for this emotion condition that has develop mostly spread through the internet and social media out of fear. It is not normal for doctors to affirm these things. Breast reduction is one thing but removal all together for the reasons stated are another thing.

I’ve talked about wanting a flat chest and this removal since I was pretty young. I feel very secure in this desire. In fact when I was 15 and 16 talking about tattoos I wanted I kept saying “I wish I could have a flat chest so I could get a cool tattoo there”. For me, this is genuinely my goal with my body and something I think looks beautiful. It’s totally fine if you don’t agree but to try to frame it as a “social contagion” is blatantly false and ignores hundreds of years of documented transgender folks modifying their bodies like this. Transgender folks have existed long before social media and the internet.
