Hi Chad Rooting from Cape Town South Africa!!! My best mate did a similar journey for charity but he ran across South Africa a few years back and he finished it off with the Comrades marathon. The Comrades is one of the biggest and longest road races in the world. SO, I made a bet with him that I would meet him at the finish line if he made it to the end. He literally ran for a month from Cape Town to Durban and made it to the start day of the Comrades so I had to buy an airticket to surprise him. That morning I missed my flight to Durban so I had to rebook for a later flight. I got to Durban late and hired a car and then rushed to the finish line in Pietermaritzburg as it was the up hill run that year. Because it's such a big road race I got caught on the highway in a major traffic jam. I was running out of time and I knew that the cut off for the race was 12 hours at 6pm! I tracked my mate and saw that he was on the 12 hour grouping so knew I could make it if I pulled the car over and make a serious mission or I wasn't going to make it. But for some reason I had brought my skateboard on the trip, so knew this was only way to see him come in before the cut off ! I literally skated like crazy and by some miracle I got to the finish line as my mate was coming in. As he was recovering in the cool down area I went to him and surprised him. He was in complete shock that I was there and had stuck to my promise. To this day I will never forget his face, he had achieved the impossible and was there at the finish line cheering him on! It was a special moment as friends and was an incredible achievement by my mate! It was worth it so keep on going Chad, you will make it!!!. SIMON Ps. In my 40s and been skating for years and still loving it and keeps me out of trouble!!!

Awesome! I also have skated around the country with my dog. I found this video and now I’m hooked. Certainly brings back lots of reveries watching highway traffic while skateboarding through different places. Right on, ride on! Cool to see someone going out and doing some things I’ve certainly done that most people would hardly dream of going out and doing. I also have absolutely wanted to skate across the country, and then I realize I definitely have done so.
