Everybody I know who works in animation consider The Secret of Nimh and The Iron Giant as huge classics, so thank goodness for that.

far as Secret of Nimh goes, it was a Don Bluth classic and fans of animation should seek everything he animated, he breathed life into them like never before and possibly never again, since CGI is commonplace.

Awww... My dad took my brother and I to see Mask of the Phantasm in theaters. I couldn't have been older than 5 or 6 but I have fond memories of that outing. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is my favorite disney movie ever. Is beautiful, dark, emotional, powerful, with a huge ton of character complexity and moral issues and it's just brutally awesome. It has the best visuals, the best acting and the best music Sadly, nobody likes it, recognizes it or even knows it.

Piratearicat *raises hand* I do. Its one of my all time favorite Disney movies and I say as someone who was obsessed with Lion King (I still have a Simba pillow and I'm 25). It didn't do horribly and who the fuck doesn't adore the song Hellfire? An old mofo gets hard for the first time, bursts into song and then sets Paris on *_fire_* out of this insanity, you know for kids. That is just too awesome, scary and hilarious to forget. Its also been playing a bit on one of Disney's other channels which is quite a surprise as they never did that before so maybe a new generation will come to enjoy the movie more than the last.

Fun fact- in the original book frolo was quasimodo's uncle, and frolo was the arch deacon of Paris. Unfortunately disney had to neuter the original story for it to be slighty more kid friendly.
@theobserver4214
@theobserver4214 6 жыл бұрын
Piratearicat Disney also tries to forget it a little because of the villain and nudity scene. Compared to other Disney villains, Frollo is a fucking psychological maniac who will do anything to kill gypsies like Esmeralda or Clopin (they even tried to kill her deformed baby, the main character Quasimodo) or people who are "inferior". Unlike other Disney movies as well like The lion king, the audience actually gets to see him fall into fire and presumably char to death from molten lead. That's pretty fucking dark for a Disney movie

THANK YOU!! Prince of Egypt was one of the best animated movies I have ever seen. It was gripping, the visuals were nice, voice acting was nice, songs were SUPER memorable. Not half bad? The Plagues, Playing with the Big Boys, All I Ever Wanted, When You Believe, and Through Heaven's Eyes are THE SHIT. This movie is on my top ten favorite movies. If I'm not putting in fandom sagas, it's my top three. It's perfect for believers and non-believers.

GentleEsther YES! It truly is a movie that should be seen in theaters just for the visuals alone, wish it'd get a re-release. Even as a big Disney fan the animation trumps everything in the 90s Renaissance. Yes *_everything_* even my two favorite movies Hunchback of Notre Dame and Mulan do not compare. Why DreamWroks continues to act like it doesn't exist when it was successful is beyond me, they should be shamed and stoned for their misdeeds. I ain't even religious and I think this is a sin.

Mask of The Phantasm is probably the greatest Batman movie ever made, animated or live action. It understood what made Batman what he is without being a overly dark gritty character study like Nolan's films or a dark gothic horror like Buton's films, and it took itself seriously and treated us and our intelligence with respect not like Shumacher's films.

I have no idea why everytime Phineas and Ferb try to build some weird and crazy inventions, it's Candace's job to try and punish them. What in the world is wrong with this weird and funny cartoon show? Even somebody would be asking people "Hey! Where's Perry?" I mean, everytime Perry the platypus keeps on having a double life as a secret agent, it's his enemy Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz who gets beating up by saying that famous catchphrase, "Curse you, Perry the platypus!!!" Is this show on so much weed?

The secret of Nimh is probably one of the best anjimated movies of all time. It's dark charming scary and most importantly. The hero is a women who is not the kick ass lara croft type or the manipulative shoot you in the back type. but a worried mother fighting for her children. And she is not particullarly strong has no special albilities (except that magical mcguffin thing that Nicodemus gave her in the end) and still manages to succeed but not in all her actions. What makes this movie even greater is that 3 of the main characters just die. one in the result of a planned act of murder. That is dark for a kids movie. But it is great.

Pocahontas-Again I loved John Smith and Pocahontas' chemistry. 13 Going On 30-Cute body swapping film Kate & Leopold-What you say this is one of my fav films yup sure is. I enjoyed the hell out of this movie. George Of The Jungle-Hilarious. 27 Dresses-Cute story and I like James Marsden. The Prince Of Egypt-Epic film I loved the animation and the story. Must get the DVD of it sometime. Spirit of the Stallion-Again very good movie and I loved Bryan Adams music. Racing Stripes-Similar to Spirit I loved it. Sinbad Legend Of The Seven Seas.-Great film and I loved the swashbuckling rogue Sinbad. Bolt-Can't believe this got a 6.9 in IMDB WTF . List goes on

I mean it was the time when Disney was trying to experiment. I remember watching Rescuers Down Under, Prince of Egypt, and Iron Giant. Prince of Egypt is the definitive Exodus story. Ten Commandments was cool, but it's pretty long. Prince of Egypt cuts it short. Also lending their vocal talents to it are Patrick Stewart (as Seti, Rameses' father), Val Kilmer (as Moses and God; the first Batman actor to voice Moses), and Michelle Pfeiffer as Tzipporah.

Iron Giant was a good movie but no one talks about that much because CartoonNetwork ran it into the ground. With a week long special of showing nothing but the Iron Giant movie. The moment the movie ended it was back on again. And that was for a WHOLE WEEK. We remember it, we just don't talk about it because of the Iron Week.

I'm not sure if anyone is aware of this, but the Return To Oz movie is actually based on the book with the same. It was the sequel to the Wizard Of Oz, as penned by L.F. Baum. He actually wrote a 14 book series, with other authors taking over through the years after his passing. A lot of what happens in the movie, happens in the book, unlike a lot of other films that I've seen these days.

I love The Prince of Egypt because of the gorgeous animation. I love the textures, the vivid colors. The landscapes of Egypt are huge! This movie was drawn with grace; and instead of being preachy, it's more of a sibling rivalry due to their backgrounds. I've seen other Moses stories and this one in particular is my number one favorite. I love how they made Ramses more human-like instead of a selfish monster. They went more towards a human emotions than a religious turn, and I loved that direction.

6:25 and the biggest thing? It was made by *Dreamworks*, mostly know for their 3D movies but they also made some pretty awesome 2D animations as well. They were like a more stylistic and more creative Disney with their debut 3D film Antz which was well done graphically at the time and story wise, and this film, with some fucking awesome animation.

I vaguely remember watching The Rescuers at my Grandmother's house several times when I was little. I loved the animation, music and concept of animals working together to help a lost girl while navigating the human world. When I first saw Down Under, I didn't think much of it because it was so different. Over time, I gradually matured to where I appreciated it much more and agree that it is one of those rare sequels that surpassed the original. The Black Cauldron was also cool for its time, albeit a bit strange. Many today don't know that Oliver & Company (1988), which Billy Joel starred and sang one of my favorite Disney songs in, was considered at one point as the story for the next Rescuers (1990). Jenny was originally Penny, the girl saved by Bernard and Bianca in the first, being adopted into a New York City family and later helped when in danger by a group of Rescuer dogs among other new animals. However, the premise was deemed too different and difficult to connect from the original. So, it was decided to go with an animal driven spin on the classic Oliver Twist story. Personally, I think that was the better choice.
