I always look at Nikolas Draper-Ivy’s art for inspiration when it comes to black male hairstyles. Aside from Static he has tons of illustrations with black male character designs, you’ll find some inspo for sure. Liquorice is going to be super cool, just like the rest of your cast ❤

Great job, so far! In one of my comments on one of your previous videos, I had mentioned how much I loved that the character names and the fictional location that you had created were food-inspired, much like the Strawberry Shortcake series of the 80s, but as I listen to you talk about the series and the characters, I realize that it's so much more than that. Strawberry Shortcake was a series based off of greeting card characters, which led to a series of toys, which led to an animated series, mostly aimed at children. The characters were child characters, having adventures in Strawberry Land, and the stories were just mainly focused on love and friendship, whereas your series, Mint and Friends, sounds more fleshed out. It sounds more nuanced and realistic than an episode of Strawberry Shortcake. Mint and Friends is clearly targeting an older audience, with more attention to character development and plot lines. While the character designs are appealing, it sounds like it's meant to be more than just cute. It also sounds more entertaining than actual reality shows! I've been looking for more recent cartoon series to watch, but most streaming services don't have anything of interest to me, other than Disney/Pixar shorts, on Disney Plus. I'll be back for more! Also, I love the idea of Cherry being Autistic, being on the Spectrum myself. There really aren't too many Autistic cartoon characters out there. From one Aspie to another, thanks!

I can honestly say I love Sorbet the most! Especially how selfless she sounds yet she needs to learn to treat herself. One of my characters in my comic is sort of in the same boat but in a more serious sense kinda inspired by my experiences with compassion fatigue and such. But I won’t delve into that here and rather just love Sorbet! I especially love her design. Especially her dreadlock hair which is honestly my favorite kind of hairstyle to look at in cartoons and other media.

as a dutch person i can confirm the way you pronounce "keuken" is not how you say kitchen in my language the "eu" sound is 1 tone i think the best way to hear how you say it is to use the google translate speech function, cuz that basically how most dutch people say it but if the way you say it is the intented way if saying it thats fine too also, happy birthday

My thought: Cinnamon's story makes me think of of the song "Are You Satisfied?" by MARINA because of a lot of how it talks about ambition. (especially the kind of cheeky part that's like "NOBODY CAN STOP ME!!". Although, I don't think she has serious mental health problems or wants to run away from home.)

I'd really like to see more of this content so i could get invested in your characters! As much as i love the art commentary, i find myself wanting to see the story of your characters more :D

I love when people talks about their stories in development, it inspires me so much! Plus, I admire how fast this idea of yours grew! It's been like... Less than a year? A year? Or is it just me who has a strange perception of time, cause it's seems like yesterday you were first talking about Mint and Friends... and then there is me who spend 5+ years to figure out anything... Not to mention, I was thinking of surnaming a character of mine, who works in her own bakery "Cannella", that is the Italian word for cinnamon, since I had a friend who has that surname... By I guess I am gonna change it 😅Coming back to the video I think that the characters, the plot, the arcs, the themes seems all nice thought, wish you good lucks with everything!

Im personally really intrigued by this project and excited to see where it goes! I strangely like how mint doesnt seem to have a designated "default" fit. They just either wear teal pants or a teal skirt, maybe shapewear or binders as nessasary, but i can imagine alt outfits to be so fun to design for them! Also, a few months back i commented on a short where you replied to me abt fem mint putting on a wetsuit and just slapping a skirt on top.... I still find that hilarious and im imagining a comic where bubblegum is trying to process the information and mint blushes explaining their fashion choice 😂 Amazing work!

Personally, as a (newbie ig, bc I’m 14 (turning 15 in October!) but I’ve been writing since before I remember? Idk) writer, I really think this is good! I agree with the platonic m/f relationships. In my current project, there’s quite a few. Also more where it’s like platonic relationships with characters in each other’s sexualities. Also, Sorbet x Mint! Love them! I relate to Sorbet so much, too, being my main projects (besides TMOOE) are fantasy. Like “the Anuet Alliance”, a story about another realm that acts as a set up trilogy to - never mind, I digress lol. Plus Cinnamin sounds like this song I wrote called “Good Enough” inspired by Roxanne Wolf from FNAF (then a few weeks later I find a song abt Roxanne also called Good Enough lmbo) If you want ideas, I got so may in my head. Like, for example, maybe Sorbet has a bit of trust/commitment issue from her experiences with Cherry and it shows when it comes to her relationship with Mint. ALSO! Cherry sounds like Everett, an autistic robotics engineer in TMOOE lol

Something that I've noticed is that you normally draw Mint as either very masculine or very feminine, and while there's nothing wrong with that and many genderfluid people do express that way, a good chunk of the community also experiences "in-between" gender, like non-binary, or demigirl/demiboy. And I think Mint would be very suited to an androgynous design, and drawing them that way sometimes would look amazing!

Sorbet could try some spoken word for the showcase. She might be inspired by her brother's power metal albums to squeeze deep fantasy lore into a dozen verses or so. Also, if her brother is truly supportive, he might compose some background music for her recitation, perhaps to help her with keeping the flow. The end result could sound like a Leonard Cohen collab with Trent Reznor. Sounds pretty original, right?

Pick something fun for the band. Alot of different names have worked in the past. Blue Oyster Cult. No Doubt. Ziggy Stardust. Heck everyone's names is food base, why the band. As for Liquorice's hair, white guy disclosure so grain of salt clause: maybe base it heavily off of someone that had it. Heck, plenty of white boys have tried the (to mix results, it seems to be Korn and the nation of New Zeiland that seems to be able to pull it off) so 1990's Rock Drummer look might be an option if he is say mixed heratage or adopted with a northern European decent. Otherwise i would look at Lajon Witherspoon who is the frontman to Sevendust as a visual inspiration. not sure your tste in music, but check out their songs Praise, Angel's Son, Hero, and, Broken Down and Superficial Drug. Edit, a thought came to mind. Did Futurama or Static Shock do the hairstyle any justice and if so can you replicate it?
