Thanks for posting this. Just finished the repair. I did a few things differently but overall this was the best video. I didn't have to lift the car - still was easy enough to access rear nut on the long line. The top hose to quick connect was brutal the first day - I had to step away after hours of trying to get it to connect...second day trying to get it I just took the bumper cover off and had it locked in about 10 minutes with the help of the needle nose vice locks. Access/room to work with the bumper cover off was so much easier. Thanks for the video.

I just have to say WOW! This was by far the best automotive fix it yourself video I have ever seen. The detail and steps you go through is absolutely amazing, I was able to change my own lines saving $600 in labor alone from the Chevy dealer. Thank you so much, you are AWESOME. For those attempting I just have to say give yourself a good 4 to 6 hours and take your time. And as far as needing the needle nose vise grips I was able to reach up and underneath the car and pull both lines out and push them in without, you have to go around the frame support but I was able to do it quite easily. Either way it works. Again thanks for the great video. 😃👍

This was one of the strangest jobs I’ve ever completed, because putting everything back together was somehow much easier than getting it all out. I thought getting the lines out was tough, but getting them back in was pretty easy. He’s right when talking about the longer line toward the back of the car-keep pushing it farther and farther back, until you get the whole thing up on top of the engine. Then it’ll just pull out. Don’t try to take it out to the left when looking at the front of the car. Getting the lines in the right spot in the front of the car, at the radiator, was surprisingly easy. One thing to note, I did this job in February 2023, and the lines I got from GM had slightly different bends in them than the originals. What this led to was the 2 lines being farther apart in the area shown at 5:10 in the video. I didn’t end up putting that clip back on, because the new lines were too far apart. Also, the part at 11:15, because of the different angles in the new lines, mine didn’t fit into those clips. If your lines are the newer version, I’d suggest putting in the shorter one first. Other things-getting that C clip in on the upper line was an SOB. Took forever. I have 2014 Cruze, and mine has only 1 vibration clip rather than 2. Additionally, I didn’t lose but a few drops of transmission fluid. All in all, with a few snags that I should have known better, it took me about 6 hours. I didn’t have a pick tool, which was a mistake. Having that will help a lot and save time. I found the vices grips were necessary for getting the lines out but not getting them back in. I was able to get my hand behind there and push them in. Pulling them out though is a different story, so I do think the vice grips are a must. When working on the upper line, make sure that black round clip doesn’t start to slide down the pipe. Mine did, and getting back up was a little bit of a pain.

Extraordinarily well-planned and carried out repair in an engine bay with no extra room to work in, unless you remove the parts as you showed us. Did you consider just tightening up the leaking compression fittings on the existing hoses by just putting one or more worm drive hose clamps over them until the leaking stopped?

Mr95kenny I'm curious to ask,,, I've got a burnt smell coming thru when my car sits in idle. I was told it's from the leaky line dripping on something hot. My leak is worse than yours was, but did you get a burnt smell from it? I'm wondering if it really is from the cooler line leak or if I have something else going on too.
@Mr95Kenny
@Mr95Kenny 5 жыл бұрын
Breelyn Tucker once you get the line fixed, next chance you get, let the car cool all the way down, disconnect the negative battery post, and wash the engine, mainly the near the part that was leaking. See if the smell comes back after. I normally just put some soap in a hose and rinse everything down than blow it off. There are videos online about this. Never have had a problem. The only other think i can think of right quick is the oil cooler, i know mine is leaking but haven’t smelled anything yet, but it is near the exhaust manifold. This will be my next video coming this summer.

@breelyntucker5173 5 жыл бұрын
Wait no, I don't want to drain the fluid when it's hot, right? Do I really have to measure how much fluid I drain? Can't I just add fluid till it's coming out of the level to know when to stop? That way I could drain the fluid while engines still warm, get lines in and fluid changed in one shot. Any advice for me?
@Mr95Kenny
@Mr95Kenny 5 жыл бұрын
Breelyn Tucker i was confused when buying the line so just ended up going to the dealership, was it cheeper at rock auto? I would change every 50,000 to 75,000 miles. I would run car and check for leaks, you probably wont need to top fluid off right yet if your changing it. I have a video about changing the ATF and there are some more out there too.

@@Mr95Kenny I got both lines at rockauto for 60 bucks, plus tax, which is what it would have cost to get just the long line from Napa. I stumbled on your video for changing the atf yesterday, I was planning on changing it at the same time anyway, but glad to find your video- yours seem to be the easiest for me to understand. I'm due for a change, plus it must be low. The leak in my cooler line is significant. So if I don't need to top off fluid before looking for leaks, then would I put lines in, check for leaks, then change out fluid at that point? And I can do that when vehicle is still warm, right? Some comment had me confused about that earlier, but I don't think it matters
