How to chip and add vtec into a p06 non-vtec ecu. Its pretty easy and definitely worth keeping your p06 ecus.
The process of chipping in this video applies to all Honda ecu computers (p28, p75, p72)

@@JiroProject hey johnny thanks for the video. I just bought a p05 that was hondata s300 ready and verified it has vtec and datalogging installed because of your video here. However i noticed this p05 doesnt have the capacitors at c51 and c52. Is this going to be a problem for me using this. If it needs clarified im gonna be running a b18c1 w/ manual transmission with hondata. again though thanks for the video.

the funny thing about that is, i dont sign my ecus anymore. I have a legit label. So if anyone has an ecu of mine that is signed, those are OG ecus i sold.

when you buy a kit, just inform the seller what ecu you have and they will give you the parts you need.

I have a p28 that won't give me any spark. Could I take the parts from that and use em in the p06 for the VTEC section? Someone also tried chipping that one, so I could probably take some of the chip parts from that too no?

I hVe chipped p28 but if I hVe ic15 and ic16 with transitor filled i think my tune cuts them out , should I take them off anyways ,

Nice and full detailed video, but I'm just wondering, did you tune or put basemap on the ecu before you start the engine or just plug it in after you rechipped it?

after your chip your ecu you'll need a basemap, yes. And then tuned from there. I wouldn't drive very far or long w/o a tune if you're boosted.

Lead free solder Solder wick Ground strap Tweezers Solder suction What about Solder gun temp And tip size (fine point tip I'm assuming)?? And what temperature do you recommend, what watt of the iron gun. And would solder flux be recommended?

Very good questions I never mentioned in the video. But if you use solder flux then you would have to wash the board with luke warm water and give it a really nice air blow dry (never run your ecus wet or moisture). I personally don't like the fine fine tips, nor beveled. i use 900M-T-B to be exact. Temp would be from 330°C to 350°C (626°F to 662°F). With my unit dial, it sits at 75 as my sweet spot. hope that helps.

yes. and the chipping will get you to a tuner to tune your motor/car to spec

Really great video but I have a question: Why did you use N411F? N411L would be better to my opinion because it has 4.7K ohm on both R1 and R2. It is the closest to the original NTE2368.

I thought about it, but its pretty self explanatory. you put a solder wick on it and it just does its job. watched a few guys doing these vids and it just drags on and on

hello, nice video. can this be done in a p29 ecu? i cant find good info about it. also, buying those components at the local store should be fine? or they are something specific? (i have an eprom burner btw)

yea that ecu can be chipped. before buying the correct components, talk to the seller about the right parts for the conversion to your specific ecu. hope that helps.

yes, any automatic ecu for civics from 92-95 computer will work. Hope that answers your questions.

it is 100% recommended. I have actually gotten a few ecus where you couldn't even tell that it was burn/bad. Once i replaced it, you can see that it was burnt. So if anything, if its an easy replacement, just do it. hope that helped

Hi, i have a EK3 d15z6 engine and i want to swap my ecu, i find a p30 and p06 on similar price, which one you recomended to buy? In the future i want to do a mini-me on engine, thx.

if its a usdm p30 ecu from an obd1 del sol vtec, then that is the one i would choose since it already has vtec in it. p06 doesn't have vtec, but as you see in this video here, it's very simple to just solder it in.

The ecu I have there is a manual ecu. You don't have to remove those for that is what you see in an automatic ecu. if you did the auto to manual conversion, you have nothing to worry about.

yes, you'll be just fine. as long as its a b series auto, it'll fit and work as it should. just think they have d16z6 automatic from the factory

Hey so…. P06 here. Running hondata s300 and I’m getting fuel prime with code 21 (CEL flashing long 2 times & once fast). Car runs like doodoo. Undriveable. Any ideas?

check the capacitors, or ic17, which is TA8903SN. and check code 21 - VTEC spool solenoid valve. Watch my vtec section part and see if everything is there and has nice solder contacts. Also make sure your vtec solenoid is wired in correctly or nothing is broken or loose.

not 100% on what you're asking. but with that ecu, yes you can change it to manual, and also add vtec to it if needed. just do exactly what I did in the video.

How often should u update ur system or the old chip is still good for a retune

They make a lot fake chips out there. You can search comparisons on what to look for. But the good chips are lifetime reburnable. The fake ones are like 2 or 3 time burns and then they don't burn anymore. As for a retune, I would retune your car with any big or major mods like upgrade turbo, cams, etc.. hope that helps.

No, whatever your car is, keep it that way. If you have an automatic vehicle, you don't need to do the auto to manual conversion. hope that helps

Johnny Muah Project no my car was automatic and was converted to 5 speed with in si tranny and ecu when this was performed also when from dual point to multi-point ...... mpfi modification now I want to throw a vtec head and people have told to look for a p28 ecu or a p06 am asking you this cause I have found a lot of p06 and p28 automatic

@@davidgodinez5380 OH, well then yea you can use an automatic as long as you convert it to manual. its pretty much a manual now. all you need is to add vtec which is what I showed here in this video. And of course if your car is an obd0 you will have to convert it to obd1. hope that helps.

I have never chipped a p27. But if the board looks exactly like the one in the video, then it should be the same and should work. If you need one, I do have a few still

yes. that section is for vtec. if its not there, you don't have vtec.

so at 0:29 that is the vtec parts you need. and at 3:09 is where you install it at. hope that helps

I’m a little confused as I’m a bit new to Honda. Are all the little components responsible for the vtec or is it the chip that you installed? I guess what I’m really trying to ask is, what is the point of the final chip that you installed?

first step is for chipping the ecu, which the sst chip will become the new brain to the ecu. Chipping gives you the option to now tune your car with your specific mods using a program. Then the vtec section (top left of the ecu) is for ecus that doesn't have vtec, which a p06 doesn't. If you have a p28 or p72, then those have vtec already installed. If you're running a non vtec motor, then you wouldn't need it. hope that helps.

@@hamper116 what car and motor do you have? im guessing you did a z6 swap from a d15? if you can get a p28 ecu, thats the way to go. if you want to use your p06, chip it, and put a p28 basemap in, then that's another way.

@@JiroProject I have a del sol with a d15 at the moment and have a d16z6 that’s getting to getting ready to get dropped in. I’m not wanting to spend a fortune on a p28, so doing p06 to vtec conversion is what I’ll do

@@hamper116 yup then you're on the right track. but you'll need to get a p28 basemap burnt onto the sst chip, which we do that service as well if needed.

once vtec is install it will have vtec. but if you burn a ls b18a/b non vtec motor (for example) to your sst chip, then going by the reading of the chip it won't see vtec.

depending on what the seller is selling, yes. the one I bought is reburnable so the tuner can tune and reburn it.

yes it can. Once an ecu is chipped you will then be able to tune and burn the chip to your car.
