yes they are. it feels like they've known each other for years why not fly off in chitty and get married the only thing that bugs me is they didn't take the kids. they could have become the ring bearer and flower girl

That scene when they were in disguise operates on two levels....the kids love it for the pratfalls and how Truly moves, and the adults get what you just said, as it is very subtle, and very moving.

Two people who don't like each other very much at the beginning of a movie usually end up living happily ever after with one another by the end. It was certainly the case here, remember how upset they were with each other at the beginning? Truly criticized Caractacus for his supposed irresponsible parenting while Caractacus wasn't too thrilled about someone who never had kids herself telling him how to raise his children.
@Johnno99899 жыл бұрын
I remember during a lecture I had with my college course, our lecturer asked us about confessing love to one another in British movies (I think the question was "Do British films portray love or something"? It was something more detailed than that); I answered yes and gave the ending to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as an example. I was like "I dunno if you guys count this as a British film, but during the end of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, it starts with Caractacus Potts finishing the story of the flying car he tells Truly and the kids. The kids finish that the adults get married. Truly happily wonders if that happens. Caractacus is doubtful,s then changes the subject and they head home. As he drops Truly off, Caractacus tells Truly that being that he is working class and she is upper class, he doesn't reckon he's right for her. Truly's a bit offended and storms off. Caractacus and the kids head home, the kids are rather disappointed, because they think they'd make a good couple. When they get home, Caractacus finds out the sweets he tried to sell earlier on have made him a fortune. That's when he decides he and Truly need each other and goes to fetch her. They collide into each other and Truly has also heard the news. They have a quick snog (which I remember making the others giggle when I said it) and Truly is impressed and like; "Well Mr Potts, now you'll have to marry me". They climb aboard Caractacus' car and the car takes off. So you see, British films like this one can clearly portray a love confession between one another".
