@@jeffreymangrum1683 Umm, Jerry isn't in "Hunger Strike".... Temple Of The Dog was a one album collab in tribute to the late Andrew Wood (lead singer of Mother Love Bone). Their dear friend and also, Chris' roommate at one time..... Members of T.O.T.D were: Chris Cornell: from Soundgarden (lead singer) Matt Cameron: from Soundgarden (drummer) Stone Gossard: from Mother Love Bone (lead guitar) Jeff Ament: from Mother Love Bone (Bass guitar) Mike Mcready: (rythm guitar) and friend of Stone, Jeff and the late Andrew Wood and .... Eddie Vedder: unknown at the time, was there waiting for an audition with Stone and Jeff for their new lead singer position (due to Andrew Woods tragic death) FUN FACT: this is where Eddie Vedder met everyone and out of this collaboration.... PEARL JAM was "born".... the Temple of The dog album was recorded in Nov of '90 (released in April '91) and Pearl Jam's 1st album was released 4 months later in August of '91.... it's the 30th anniversary next month of Pearl Jams 1st album "TEN"!! Time FLIES man!! ;) All That being said....I am still interested in why you brought Jerry Cantrell and Alice In Chains into the equation though.... :)

@@michaelgilbert197 fun fun fact... Matt Cameron came full circle once more in ‘98 and took the drums for PJ and has been their ‘permanent’ drummer since (they were in the midst of a bit of a drummer carousel Matt filled in for Jack Irons to tour for their 98 album Yield that jack had to bow out of due to health concerns) Fun fun fun fact... this wasn’t Ed’s audition, PJ’s first show was 10/22/90 before the recording started a month or so later that you mentioned. Ed’s audition was in the form of vocals he laid down over the Mamasan trilogy instrumental tape that stone sent him on the advice of Jack irons (who then drummed for the Chili peppers but knew of this local SD kid named Ed who did vocals for a random outfit called Bad Radio). He sent the tape back and they flew him and then was recorded. Within a week they played that first show, then came the TOTD recordings.

From Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple Of The Dog and his HUGE solo catalogue.... it's all nothing but pure heart and soul.... every word and note in every song was from his soul!! I hope Leo goes down the Chris Cornell rabbit hole or at least a few more songs from each group he was in!! LOL!! Fingers crossed!! ;) ;)

"Prince's music is the soundtrack to the soulful and beautiful universe he created, and we have all been privileged to be part of that amazing world. I performed his song 'Nothing Compares 2 U' for the first time a couple months ago. It has a timeless relevance for me and practically everyone I know. Sadly, now his own lyrics in this song could not be more relevant than at this moment, and I sing them now in reverence as I pay tribute to this unequaled artist who has given all of our lives so much inspiration and made the world so much more interesting. We will miss you Prince!" - Chris Cornell.

Chris Cornell is one of the greatest singers of our generation. he had a huge range and a powerful voice, really great intonation and resonance and he just know how to work it. great vibrato too and he's saying with passion and soul and power. he's great with the various bands he's been in like Audioslave and Soundgarden but I honestly believe some of these acoustic recordings that he did later before he died really showcase his voice so much. he mostly wrote original music but he's got a handful of Stellar covers including this one. As with every cover, he makes it totally his own. he also does a knockout live version at a stadium in the dark that is a cover of the John Lennon song imagine. oh, I just realized, you should really check out him singing an acoustic cover of Billie Jean by Michael jackson! it is such a banger. and it's great, you can hear the audience slowly recognizing what the song is, because he does it really down tempo and distraught. somewhere near the middle of the first verse you can tell people start catching on any kind of smiles. and then when he hits the chorus he blows the doors off.

Really a heartbreaker knowing he recorded this song soon after Prince died as a bit of a tribute to Prince. Was barely a year later and its sort of a double whammy of sadness knowing a dead man is singing a dead mans song.

I think you’d love the Audioslave song I Am The Highway. Such a beautiful song. Rest in Paradise Chris Cornell. Gone but never ever forgotten.

Leo. This song was wrote by Prince. Sineand O'Connor sang this song in the early 90's. Which was beautiful in it's respect. Chris Cornell. Amazing musician. His voice is not like any other. Prince, Chris Cornell, Freddie Mercury. David Bowie. These are legacies, they have left us with such beauty to pass on to next generations.

Pure greatness. Hard to say any thing. Words just don't do this justice. A song wonderfully written and preformed. Prince and Chris were true masters at there profession.

Impressive that Leo identified his voice as grunge immediately. Mixed with soul, absolutely. 👏👏👏

that song seriously makes you feel something real. I started missing ex's, evaluating my mistakes, wanting to be nicer to everything. They all performed well.

I lost 2 of my dearest friends last year. James was my ex husband, father to my son, and my person. He was in my life for 15 years. Jason was my bestie and I was only blessed with 3 years of his friendship. I can't help but think of them both when Chris sings, "It's been so lonely without you here. Like a bird without a song." I miss them every day and nothing compares to them. -Cyndi 🧡

Finally!! Thank you! There are SO many directions to go with Chris Cornell. Solo (like this one), Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple Of The Dog. I wouldn’t mind a weeks-long delve into Chris Cornell like you did with the Beastie Boys a while back. He’s worth it. That voice!! R.I.P.

R.I.P Chris Cornell. From Temple of the Dog to Soundgarden to Audioslave - he gave us decades of amazing music. He is missed as is his friend Chester Bennington from Linkin Park. Two legends lost too soon.

Chris is one of the greatest singers to ever come out of the Grunge movement & is missed dearly. Be at peace brother, you are still loved & missed daily. Your music is, & will always be a guiding light to many of us. edit: Love the Boston Tee. Great under rated band.
