Are you looking for an easy way for forging a bowl? Or perhaps a blacksmith cupping tool would help you shape flower blanks or other pieces? This swage block alternative can help you do just that. I show you how to make a simple bowl stake that requires no welding.
Until March 31, 2019 if you go to our website www.blacksmithpdfs.com and get a download of any sort (free or paid) you will be entered to win this bowl stake. I am giving away the one in the video.
NEW!!! "All Template Bundle" for $3... get templates for hooks, flowers, acanthus leaves, bowls, and much more! www.christcenteredironworks.c...
COMMENT: Do you have a swage block? If not, have you tried forging a cupping tool? Do you plan on making this bowl stake as a swage block alternative?

Hey Mr.Roy I can't stress enough how much I love your channel and how many ideas you and your wife has given me, I'm a 17 year old African-American male and I've been smithing since I was 13, I first saw your channel when I was 15 and it stuck with me ever since. I've joined a blacksmith organization in TN, it's called RCBA (Rutherford County Blacksmith Association), and you are one of my biggest inspirations in this trade, I might even start my own channel this year because of your inspiration and I wanted to thank you and your wife for that, plus the fact that you guys are followers of the one and only Jesus Christ is another blessing all over again. Keep up your hard work and let the Lord continue to guide yours and your family's path through life, God bless y'all.

I havent been able to get to my shop at all in what seems like half a year now, the shop is outside and with it being so cold in the winter in Ontario i just didnt want to brave it XD I have been watching your videos and making a list of projects to work on when the weather starts to heat up and this swage and bending forks seems super useful! Also making so coat hooks and perhaps an ash tray with that bowl swage would be fun little gifts for people!

Thanks for the very informative video. I need to make several shallow bowls and the way your ring fits in the hardie (or pritchel, if the case may be) is a great idea to stabilize it. I might weld some stringer beads along the part that goes down the hardie at 90 deg. apart so they might make the round shank fit tightly.

What I use for a swage block I have a 4" round swage I bought at SOFA last year, that clamps in a vise. also, a 3" diameter eyebolt with the stem cut off and a hardy stem welded on, a rose petal swage for leaves, and if I'm lucky enough maybe I'll win the one you made!

Believe it or not i have a small cupping tool that literally forged itself from a mill ball, sometimes the balls get jammed in gaps and the continuous hammering from the other balls can forge them into each other, the result is a perfect shaped cupping tool, just weld a hardy shank and your good to go

Entered, Roy. I need to talk to you about coming over again. But this time I will be bringing some 1040 or 1045 round bar stock. I need to make a series of drifts. I have the small hawk and the large battle axe. I just need to make some for hammers and various other sizes for tools I may need to make at a later date. Anyway, give me a call or shoot me a text or message, and we can set it up.
