Prince Albert had an exquisite sense of design and all of the jewels he designed for his wife are testimony to that. Another of his tiara designs for her had rubies: the Strawberry Leaf tiara. Their youngest daughter, Princess Beatrice, inherited it and its whereabouts is now unknown. 😢

We most certainly do have emerald tiaras. There is the Greville emerald tiara that Eugenie wore for her wedding and also the Vladimir tiara which has interchangeable Pearl or emerald drops. Queen Elizabeth wore the emeralds on a visit to Canada.

If I'm not mistaken (as I don't know the actual piece) that emerald in the brooch isn't "damaged." Emeralds are rarely clean, clear stones. They almost always have inclusions in them that make them look like they are cracked and/or murky. It's just the natural state of the stone. You can always tell a lab created emerald because their too perfect looking. No real emerald is that clear.
@RoyalFashionNews
@RoyalFashionNews 6 ай бұрын
That's probably true, but I think it's also a sign of wear, which is amazing! I love that these jewels have been around for so long and have been part of a family's heritage! It makes them so much more special than something that's perfect! Thanks for watching!!

@RoyalFashionNews The inclusions in the emeralds are known as "jardin." All emeralds are expected to have some kind of inclusions. They are indeed a delicate stone. I'm sure they are treated with the utmost care.

I doubt that the scratches on the surface of the emeralds are natural inclusions. Those, imo, are definitely signs of usage. The only old stones I would not expect to have signs of wear and tear would be diamonds and garnets.

I wonder if the Fife’s would allow the tiara to be worn? With Catherine, the Princess of Wale’s, green eyes, it would look spectacular!! Also with her rich brown hair with it’s reddish highlights. Stunning. I agree the emeralds are definitely scratched. They probably definitely have some inclusions, but for Sotheby’s to say what they did, they must be remarkably clear. I know I’d love to wear them! 😉 From Oregon with ♥️ Jessica

@@camlacasse3760 But not the Fife Emerald tiara, gifted to Queen Victoria by Prince Albert. She passed it down to her granddaughter Alexandra, The Duchess of Fife, and it remains in the Fife family’s possession, but is loaned to the crown for display purposes. The Royal house of Windsor does not own it and Queen Camilla is unlikely to ever be able to wear it, in my humble understanding.

Queen Victoria's emerald tiara and the rest of the parure was given first to her daughter Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll in 1893. It's not hard to tell a natural emerald from a synthetic one. I prefer a smaller real one. The inclusions, defects are what really give them character. The fake ones are "too perfect" and just don't look quite right to me. On another note, Victoria lured out with having such a talented husband. His designs were extraordinary.

The ruby necklace was purchased at auction. It’s not originally opals. The opal necklace you are talking about was altered by Queen Alexandra to rubies. The Queen mother wore it often and the Queen wore it after her death. Camilla has worn it a few times over the last year. It’s a single line of large rubies in diamond surround. Very very large rubies. It’s paired with a very large ruby brooch and earrings that also once upon a time consisted of opals. Alexandra really hated opal. Victoria left those jewels to the crown. They are not the kings personal property, but are for the use of the reigning sovereign at any given time. The queen mother was so fond of the rubies that she held on to them after her daughter became queen. The queen famously remarked “mummy will give them back one day” lol

Because of the current cost of living crisis in the UK, it’s considered bad form to flaunt the jewels right now. That’s why there was a “no tiaras” rule at KC3’s coronation earlier this year. Better times and less civil unrest should see a return of the tiaras.

That tiara should probably never be worn again simply because of its historical value, age, and fragility. One drop or hard bump could absolutely shatter those delicate emeralds and it would be ruined. On the inheritance tax. Absolutely ridiculous and such a shame that the UK cannot seem to abolish it. These tiaras should absolutely stay within noble and royal families who can care for them and not let culture be sold off to the highest bidder. What an absolute shame that some of the most beautiful works have been auctioned off never to be seen again. Collect taxes on earned gains and leave priceless ancient assets alone. But then again I’m just an American and we went to war over this government’s taxation practices.

I love the idea of an infinity ring. I noticed yours was not bright at all though Looked like sterling silver and not that great looking rhinestones. I went to site. The ring there looks fantastic! Says it is made of sterling silver with 18K vermeil white gold. Have you had yours for awhile? Special order. hmm. Is there a way to make sure the stones and metal are bright and stay bright? Or are you stuck with whatever they deliver? Or requires very specific cleaner to keep the vermeil intact? Never considered a lab made diamond before but that infinity setting is really unique. I love pave set stones! Are lab grown diamonds graded? What is the cut used in those pave stones? Site didn't offer a lot of details.

ERROR at 4:15 They do own famous and very valuable emerald tiaras including the Greville Emerald kokoshnik with its 93.70-carat emerald centre stone (Pss Eugenie's wedding tiara), and also the Vladimir tiara with 15 large Cambridge Emerald drops frequently used by the late Queen. There is also the more modest Gloucester emerald bandeau

Lisa Kayser This lady (Brittany) has two great YT channels and she’s good at it ! I really don’t like her squeaky, high pitched voice, and she talks so fast she ends up mispronouncing words. I turn my volume really low, because her voice and the way she speaks really irritates me, it’s like torture: NAILS scratching on a BLACKBOARD ‼️ PS: Voice instructor coach would help Brittany improve the sound of her voice!
