Over the last 5 years I've got back into horology. Having an engineering background, I naturally have a strong interest in the in depth analysis of the watches I own, from my Seiko Monster's to my Breitling 57. Thankyou for this breakdown. At last! Subscribed 👍

Great video! I never really got into the details but now I’m interested in knowing so I can compare the watches better and not just rely on branding.

Great video. Do you happen to know what grade SW200-1 is used in the Christopher Ward C60 Trident 300 Pro? I wish all watch makers would indicate on their site. Formex (for instance)…says their SW200-1 is “standard grade” for their Field watch.

Hey , I’ve been looking to swap my black bay heritage that has an in-house movement with a super ocean 46 black steel with a chronometer grade Breitling 17 movement . I’m into diving a lot and a more tougher watch is what i would prefer . Could i get your opinion ? Thanks man

Great video! Thank you, I was waiting for it)) Decided to check today and here it is)) I have visited Sellita web site and read documentation about sw200-1, they dont say there what kind of Nivaflex they use NM or NO, but there is Movement force, the same for all grades and it says 11.86 Nmm and 8.83 Nmm. How do you think is it like they get all grades even Top with Nivaflex NO?

Hi, thanks! And yes, apparently Sellita doesn't differentiate the mainspring they use for the different levels. And as far as I remember, when you order mainsprings for ETA you have to choose which one you want, but for Sellitas they have all the same part number. So I suppose they are all the same. I never actually purchased mainspring directly from Sellita to be absolutelly sure of this, but I receive Sellita mainsprings supplied by the brands that use them (TAG, IWC, etc.) and they have nothing specified on the packaging.

Yep and that's not rare at all! I have myself a Tissot with a Elaboré 2824 and it runs pretty much around the +4 s/d as well. They are pretty much capable of that in everyday use. What really can pose a difference is under severe temperature changes and spring tension (like if you don't use it everyday to keep the mainspring with the same torque). But they are really capable movements even on the lower grades.

Does the material really matter if the performance is there? For example, The Tudor Pelagos, in house movement that is COSC, reserve is 72 hrs...different animal but is it considered “better” due to the performance numbers?
@CHRONOTALK
@CHRONOTALK 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! In this particular case, I would say that the "new" Tudor in-house movements are not only very well made (as good as good reputable ETA), but they also have silicium (or silicon, if you will) hairspring, and this alone play a huge role on the chronometric performance. I will explain more in a video in the near future.

Is the Sellita SW300-1 Top grade Anti Magnetic up to 4800 A/m? If so, what kind of magnetism can it withstand daily?
@CHRONOTALK
@CHRONOTALK 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are anti-magnetic to the ISO standard. But honestly, to modern days, it's not that much resistance because we are surrounded by pretty strong magnetic fields from laptops, cell phones and other apperels. Not that you should be paranoid about that, but the ISO standard is quite outdated to be honest.

What about these silicone springs? Better, same, or inferior?
@DutchBulldog
@DutchBulldog 3 жыл бұрын
Silicone springs are better because they protect the movement from becoming magnetized.
