From their humble beginnings as a group of young, talented musicians with a dream, to their meteoric rise as one of the most beloved and successful bands of their generation, Three Dog Night seemed to have it all. With an unprecedented string of chart-topping hits like "Joy to the World," "One," and "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)," they were the kings of the airwaves and the darlings of the music industry.
But behind the scenes, a darker story was unfolding. Plagued by addiction, infighting, and creative differences, the band members found themselves in a desperate struggle to keep the magic alive. And as the pressures of fame and fortune took their toll, the cracks in the band's foundation began to show.
Now, for the first time, Chuck Negron takes you inside the tumultuous world of Three Dog Night, sharing never-before-told stories of the band's triumphs and tragedies. From the wild parties and backstage antics to the personal battles with addiction and the creative conflicts that ultimately tore the band apart, Negron holds nothing back in this raw and unflinching account of one of music's most enduring mysteries.
So sit back, buckle up, and get ready to take a wild ride through the rise and fall of Three Dog Night. Don't miss your chance to uncover the truth behind the music in "Chuck Negron Reveals Why Three Dog Night Split Up."

What I remember most about TDN was the magnitude of the hit Joy to the World. I was living in Milwaukee back then, 1971, and the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA championship. It was a week long party in all the downtown bars. The song that resonated the backgroud to this festive time was Joy to the World. A special time, a timeless song.

I had the good fortune to see them live back in 1974 in West Palm Beach, Florida. All I know is that they put on a great performance. They were my first concert and will always be my favorite concert. From what I’ve read, Cory Wells never got into the drug thing and stayed with his wife till he died. RIP Cory Wells. I can still see him smiling and singing 50 years later.

That one line still resonates in my mind several decades later. WOW! I can definitely relate to that! Not to mention Chuck Negron's powerful sounding voice! Thank you Chuck for putting out that song during one of my toughest moments as a lost kid in Brooklyn! I'm praying for you, & may you now use your gifted talents to glorify The Lord Jesus Christ! Jimmy Greenspoon & Cory Wells passed away in 2015. I recall them releasing "Liar" in August 1971, just when I got deployed to wonderful Vietnam. I always enjoyed their cover of 'Try A Little Tenderness" which they used Otis Redding's cover as a model to arrange it by. I was surprised when my dad told it was old Frank Sinatra song. I'm now in my 70's, but at the time was a huge fan of "Three Dog Night," and was devastated when they broke up! In a much later Inter view, Chuck stated that he was so addicted to heroin that, in order for him to perform, the crew would prop him up, and strap him to, a dolly! At show time, they'd wheel him out to sing! He said he didn't really remember performing at all!

Chest Fever was a great concert song. Jimmy Greenspoon really made that Hammond B3 rumble! Three Dog Night stayed near Kissimmee, FL for a few days in the late OO's during a tour and Greenspoon came to the local public arts school and talked about music with the students. I couldn't bring myself to go to the concert they played in town, though. By that time, there were too many missing band members and I wanted to remember them the way I saw them in the '70s.

I saw Three Dog Night at Chicago Stadium along with T Rex and Lee Michaels. One of my first concerts, but one I will never forget.

I loved all of their music, but "I'd Be So Happy" is somehow sad and triumphant at the same time. Haunting!

My favorite song was One, I thought it was so cool for it's time. I was twelve years old and my older brother bought the 45 record. I also heard it playing on the Juke Box in the restaurant. Those were great Times and great Memories!!

I'd imagine the fact that they didn't write their own music also hurt them because they didn't have publising money coming in so they had to tour constantly.

They did write some songs. One of my favorite TDN songs is the first cut off the Cyan album, Happy Song. It was written by Michael Allsup.

Many artists & songwriters at the time wrote songs for them(Harry Nilson, Paul Williams, Randy Newman, Hoyt Axton). They actually had MANY Top 20 hits! My favorites are probably Joy to The World, Shamabala, & the often forgotten Family of Man! Seeing these songs done live today by what remains of Three Dog Night is like a spiritual experience! Its like going to a religious revivalist event, very moving & powerful!

Nothing like the fun American hit-making bands like The Beach Boys, Three Dog Night, Chicago, and The Monkees back in the good old days. Actually, the Three Dog Night bassist Joe left in 1973 prior to the "Cyan" album due to musical differences.

I never saw them in their heyday but did get to see them perform twice at a horse race track in Hollywood, Florida. The concerts were free...the best kind !! Danny and Cory took care of all the hits and it sounded great. Allsup was still on guitar....so just 3 original members, as I recall.
