I personally dont have addictions but was raised by a man who became sober when i was 12. I do suffer from depression anxiety an bipolor disorder. You are an amazing person for getting too day 2. I dont know you but i love you and am proud of you

It hits home. My nephew was off of heroin for a year. He was literally working at a church helping out, lived with the pastor and his family. He relapsed and the pastor found him in the bathroom with a needle in his arm. We lost him at 20 years old.

Most people have struggled with some kind of addiction. This song hit me hard. I love the rawness of Tom when he speaks of his struggles. It helps people to see they are not alone in their struggle

I think that shot with the blue and red light also represents the good and the evil which Tom MacDonald is fighting. I mean it shows him in a confessional booth and those colors are in a sense on his shoulders tugging at him as he pours his heart out.

yeah the pink is from the glow of the cross and the blue is the darkness the white light maybe the light at the end of the tunnel is death if you go into the darkness of drinking again.?

Tom said he was hitting us in the feels and he delivered. I feel you on quitting smoking. I quit for a year and I found myself missing it and sneaking a cig in secret and hating myself for it. Addiction is rough

I just wanted to share my perspective to you on this song. Tom quit everything 4-5 years ago and hasn't relapsed but it's been difficult. I think this is the song he would have written if he had the words those years ago. So he's relating with people from ground zero. That's where it starts, and these are the emotions he felt when he quit. He's trying to help others take that first step without glossing over the gritty details, details that will always feel fresh to him as a recovering addict. Your brain holds on to it all forever to remind you why not to relapse again. Church to him is the inner temple, that must be guarded with self love.

Church should always be looked at internally first. Church is not a place, it is the collection of followers of Yashua. You can only find him internally (sometimes thru external sources of information, but has to be accepted internally). The Church is the bride of Christ.

So many levels. As the screen was paused there I was thinking that blue light represented God and Peace and he's trying to face it. The pinkish red light is light the addiction, it's behind him but still on his shoulder right there and you just got to stay turned a little towards the light.

I don't know much about nova, but Sober and Church lead me to think maybe she was never really an addict. To me, those 2 songs show that she was his support-- the one fighting for him from behind. Idk, just guessing.

I dont know if she has had trouble with addiction she has never said she has so I'm assuming she wasnt really apart of his songs like this unless its jus to add to his hooks on them... prob cuz she doesnt have an addiction story... I think she has deff been drunk n done drugs but she has never ever said before that she has delt with addiction.

Yes, the Confessional scene is powerful. With the white light being seen casing the blue hue on front side of Tom representing the Holy, while the Pink/Magenta light on the back representing the dark evil of addiction. This was a Hell of a Piece from top to bottom.

As someone who will be celebrating their 40th year clean and sober on April 23, you'd think I'd like this song. I don't and I'm not sure why because it's all spot on. I totally believe and rely on my support team and the leader of that team is God. I pray for all who suffer, that they find that higher power and hold fast and steady. One second, one minute, or one hour at a time, sometimes a day is just too long. 🙏

Great understanding. I haven't had a drink in 6 yrs. I remember at first it was so hard to realize how many hours there are in a day. Having to deal with that one track mind and learn to cope. Amazing job from Tom Nova and Brandon again. I just ordered all their CDs then realized I don't have a cd player. Lol🤦🤷. #hangovergang forever💞

As a struggling alcoholic who's been in and out of detox, this song came out a perfect time, the alcohol started even affecting my heart. Been 3 months sober now, I listen to this song when I feel like giving in again. I don't wish alcohol withdrawal on my worst enemy bc it's the worst feeling I've ever felt, and I've broken bones and torn ligaments before.

The shot you're talking about with the complimentary light seems like maybe the one side is the red devil side, and the other side with the light coming through the grate is like God's light shining through what could be interpreted as a confessional window.

I'm Spiritual, not religious; but anyone who has faith in God or a higher power has definitely been down this road, with prayer and hope.🙏🏽 This song is powerful and beautiful.❤ Tom was lyrically amazing, Brandon shined vocally, and Nova obviously took the backseat (chorus) on this one. I think Tom allowed both Nova and Brandon “to shine” in the genre, they’re most known for; Nova (rock/rap) with No Good Bastards and now Brandon (chill vocals) with Church. Out of all the reactors I watch. Your voice and 1 other is the most calming I hear, thank you. I can watch your videos without forwarding it. You almost never raise your voice, in the videos that I watch anyway. Just wanted to give you a shout out in that respect. And say thanks. This is a great song. I’ve never had a drinking problem or drugs. But it makes you empathize with the song and have or feel those emotions. But anyone can sympathize with the song in their own way.

The line “I pray on my way to the liquor store that they lock the door” is Tom saying “I can’t beat it on my own. I know this thing is destroying my life and killing me and I don’t want to do it anymore, but I can’t stop myself.” Essentially that even though he wants to stop the only way he effectively can is if others take the option away from him completely. I’ve had this mentality when it comes to my addictions as well. “Why can’t this just be illegal so I can’t get it? Why can’t it be locked in a vault and the key thrown away?” Just I can’t run from it but I don’t wanna run to it, and ultimately you end up running to it and on the way your just hoping and praying it won’t be there when you arrive. This song speaks to many people and isn’t just about alcohol but any addiction. And I love how he’s showing the divide in someone’s mind. As a Christian I know what it’s like to not want something and know that I shouldn’t do it but be unable to stop myself. Someone once said “only the Christian knows what true temptation is like.” And in a sense it’s true. Everyone experiences temptation but to deny natural desires simply to please God is another level of temptation. Either way this song is simply amazing.

It took me getting pregnant with my oldest son, to make me stop drinking all the time. My son and husband gave me something to live for. It's been 26 yrs, but the thoughts of drinking, still creep in once in awhile. Thankfully I am able to fight it, but it never truly leaves.

I lost my husband to Alcoholism and the" lock the door" line.. Well Here, the Liquor stores are closed on Sundays.. Sadly that was the only decent day of the week for me.. only because the doors were locked.

I agree with your opinion on the the shot @ 6:53. I always felt like the image was to make you feel like Tom and Brandon were in a confessional booth with those shots. At least, that's how it makes me feel. I guess it's open to interpretation. Brandon's voice tone, in this song, is Epic!!! Deep, rough yet still kinda smooth... It's unexplainably wonderful! Nova is such a Rockstar with the vids.

After a thousand relapses, 2 DUIs, jail, detox, rehabs - I have 7 years but what I really have is just today. One day at a time. Each day I pray to my Higher Power, which I call God, to get through these 24 hours. I will always be an alcoholic. You don't turn into "normal" again. One drink for me & I'm off to the races & will be drinking a handle of vodka or 16 bottles of wine a day which I nearly died from. One drink is too much & a thousand isn't enough. My disease wants me dead. My head likes to play tricks at times & tell me I can have just one. 7 years & believe me, I know better. My 6 months I felt EXACTLY like Tom. I was half ass working the 12 Steps of AA. White knuckling trying to hold on like he describes. It wasn't until I connected personally with my Higher Power & to the best of my ability finished the steps that I felt free & sane. This was alot. Sorry. This song gave me major tears. I created a very popular women's only FB page for recovery & I'm going to post this song. I can't wait to read what they think. Thanks for reacting to this. Going on 3 weeks sober and it’s hard mentally. Can feel it ruining my mood some days and makes me freeze up. But I just keep telling myself it will get better 1 day at a time.
