She hates children, but she also loves power and punishment. If she taught college students who either weren't scared of her, or had the power to fight back, she wouldn't be in control anymore and would probably either be bored or be intimidated. Case in point, the children fighting back at the end is enough for her to drive away scared

Actually, Miss Trunchbull DELIBERATELY uses over the top detentions so that if children complained at home their parents would not believe them. If a teacher hated your braids or pigtails and cut them, a parent would protest for this arrogant gesture; if she caught you fro your hair and used you as an gym tool, no parents would believe you
