Oh Cisa! How I love to hate your Astral Locks! They certainly provide a challenge and definitely a great lock to have in your collection... as long as you don’t mind a little frustration :-)
Remember: only pick locks that are yours and that are not in use! Keep locksport legal!

Interesting pins and well placed pinning by Cisa, Thanks for NOT fast forwarding the gutting so we could all appreciate the lock parts a bit better. Good job on "Loving to Hate this Lock".

I love it when you narrowly avoid a BosnianBill style gutting and the fast forward breaks. At least the actual pick went perfectly 😆 Seriously though, top job 👌

Great great picking my friend, you are right, this is a hard picking, very similar to the Abus extra classe. The T-pins work very well and the keyway is really a pain. I think that the Multipick pick flag is too wide, if you use a narrower one you can manage the pins more easily. Love the gutting ;o))) I agree, it´s a real pain to gut this things, some pins always jump out ;o)) Sorry about delay in watching and comment my friend, I´m very bussy this weeekend and had no time. I´m glad you "enjoy" the lock my friend, cheers!! ;o))
@LockNoob
@LockNoob 4 жыл бұрын
I actually prefer wider tips, but, and this I think is the difference: your experience and feel of these locks is world class and your ability to use finer tools corresponds with that skill. Maybe one day I’ll get there :-) I’m just happy I can study your work :-)

@@LockNoob Thanks for your kind words my friend, you are there now but you still don´t know it. Probably it´s something psicological and both work well. After watch this vid I tried the #09 Multipick flag with a Abus Extra Classe and works great, so you did choose the right tool. Cheers buddy ;o))

Speaking of love hate relationships with locks, I am still really struggling to get the hang of serrated pins. Spool pins didn't take me this long to master, I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I suspect that I may not quite understand what I should be expecting when picking serrated pins. I've watched a few videos about it but I'm clearly still not catching on to whatever it is that I need to realize. I certainly would not be offended if anyone has any advice.

@@LockNoob I have indeed. It's a very nicely done tutorial and I definitely appreciate it. I'm still having trouble detecting the sheer line of the pins. I'm sure it will probably end up just coming down to practicing until I manage to pick up on the subtleties, but its just been taking me a really long time to get there which has a way of being a little disenchanting sometimes.

@@LockNoob I did it! I finally managed to pick that American Lock 1100 that I've been working on for so long. It turns out I was inadvertently sabotaging my own ability to make progress. After watching several tutorials on picking serrated pins, including yours, I was starting to think that I must be doing something very wrong as I wasn't experiencing the kind of feedback being described in these videos. I started really scrutinizing everything I was doing and finally I noticed something. I was using a top of keyway tensioner and I realized that it was pressing up against the first pin. I filed it down a little so that it would no longer make contact with the pin. As it turns out, pin 1 was the first pin in the binding order and having the tensioner pressed up against it was really messing things up. Once that problem had been resolved I started getting much different feedback and I was finally able to detect that subtle shift of the core when I found the sheer line. About an hour of practice later and I was able to open that American Lock over and over again. It's too bad it took me a couple of months to catch on to what was going on, but it's definitely a good learning experience. Going forward I will be more mindful of that kind of thing now that I know how much of an effect it can have.

i have to say, the italians are consistent with everything they make its always something nice and crappy at the same time. you don't know if you love it or want to take a hammer to it? this very moment someone with a cisa is thinking of bashing it with a 5kg hammer,. this very moment someone is with 10 kg sledge is walking up to their Ferrari. this very moment a few hundred Alfa Romeo automobiles are breaking down causing massive traffic.
