Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of TRUXTON for the Sega Genesis 16 bit video game console. Truxton on the Sega Genesis is an exciting shooter, one of the best on the Genesis according to some people. This game is a tough, vertical scrolling space shooter like Fire Shark in the depths of the universe. It is a video game in the SHMUP genre of classic games, and like many SHMUPS you collect power ups and fly around destroying waves of bad guys with laser beams, electro bolts of lightning and green things. Truxton is produced by TOAPLAN. Toaplan made many shooters by Toaplan like Fire Shark and always put a lot of care into their games. This version of Truxton is a US release, presumably this game originated from Japan and has a Japanese version. If you are in England or Europe or Brazil you'd play this game on the MEGA DRIVE (aka Megadrive) and rock the MD with some serious Truxton action. Truxton sounds like a 1980's hair band right up there with Trixter, Winger, Bullet Boys, Slaughter, Skid Row, Warrant and Cinderella. That gypsey road can take me home all the way to an awesome game of TRUXTON!!!!!! TRUXTON!!!!!! Available on LP record (aka vinyl) and possibly demo cassette or 8-track, but certainly not on CD. TRUXTON featuring Edit-Station 1 and the Wind Squid dancers in the house. Check out the gameplay footage of TRUXTON rocking to TRUXTONNNNNN!!!! I just got my copy of Truxton after a 20 + year departure. It's been a happy reunion. Along with Truxton, the Genesis lot also contained Whip Run, Ghostbusters, Hellfire, Thunder Force 2, and Sagaia. It was a good day Lord Karnage. A good day.

I've played it maybe 10 times??? I have a huge backlog of games. I enjoy it a lot though. Space Shooters are one of my favorites. Speaking of which, I just got Giga Wing 2. Talk about sensory overload.

There's a bug/cheat for this game.. if you use a smart bomb on a boss and pause the game while the skull is visible on the screen, it continually damages the boss. If you wait a few seconds then unpause the boss will be dead.

I saw Limited Run Games had a new set of Genesis games they were doing with Retro Bit. Truxton was one of them. I had to come back here to relive Mark's obsession with the game. Long live the Intergalactic Space Arcade!

I’m amazed at how pretty good you are at preserving and looking after all the great old stuff all these years. Those old retro game consoles in perfect condition, even the old turntable and record still sounds great! I am certain you’ve got tons of items in there that are certified museum material. A classic collector’s haven !

Maybe the reason we haven't heard about an M2 ShotTriggers / Toaplan Arcade Garage release with Tatsujin/Truxton in it is because M2 knows that when they release it, Mark Bussler is going to get copies of it for both Switch and PS4 and he will morph into ultimate form

Does anybody know of a level select for this game? I love it, but I'm getting tired of the first few levels. I've tried the up(2), down(4), right (8), left (16) code at the title screen and it won't work for me.

Remember playing this in the arcades many years ago, and when I saw a review of the game in a games magazine called Computer & Videogames and it said it was for the Sega Megadrive I knew I had to get it. Still have the cartridge today. One of my all time favorite shooters.

Scott Whitney Play it on an emulator or something, it's worth it :) If you want, I can give you some tips on the game. (and yes, it gets really hard once you get to the later levels)

i am not an emulator kind of guy i only play games on console could never get emulators to work for me people should post level easy when showing games to let others no if the game is either A. playable and worth buying or B.Even on easy so damn hard not worth buying this game looks great seen it for about 62.00 though would be nice to know if it could entertain me at least until i get to the more harder levels then pist off you know?

Toaplan shumps are so awesome. This game, Grind Stormer, and Batsugan paved the way for Cave shmups like Dodonpachi and Ketsui.

I had a lot of fun with this game back when it came out in the arcades. It is one of my favorite shooters from that era and all time actually. Cool music and theme overall. Great "Truxton" score as well there.

Aw man, this hilarious review took me waaaaay back to the release of Sega Genesis. A friend of mine picked this game up and I used to clown him about this shooter in comparison to the Thunder Force II shooter. He picked up Truxton from a bargain bin at a local "The Good Guys" department store. To be honest - I really loved Truxton for what it was - a Toaplan shooter. The tunes were great in the game as well.
