Day 5 of the Cleveland Way started in a very wet, dark and drizzly Robin Hood's Bay. We made our way in full waterproofs to Ravenscar before descending to see the fast flowing waterfall at Hayburn Wyke, it was looking splendid due to the heavy rain. We eventually arrived in Scarborough after a tough 16 miles over the muddy cliffs.

Very much enjoying watching your daily videos again - I seem to have done so much of these first 5 days in separate parts before, I'm thinking I should give this a go myself

Attempted to walk a few miles with you on this section. Got to Burniston rocks about 12:30 and walked north past Cloughton. Didn't realise you'd set off later because of the rain. Thought I must have missed you. Had Hobnobs ready and waiting. Would try again today but ironically I'm due to ride a bike on the Monsal trail. At least it got me out of the house. The waterfalls off the cliffs aren't usual. Glad the weather is better for the finish.

Hi Robert. A little later this morning as the WiFi connection here is like something from 1998. Had to resort to using my mobile data this morning as it hadn't uploaded overnight. Thanks for watching and All the best, Dean.

When it's that wet you just have to embrace it. Nice one again Dean. Clough - pronounced Cluff Cloughton - pronounced Clowton Is it a Yorkshire thing? No - because Brough is pronounced Bruff Just to throw a spanner in the works, Boughton (Notts) is pronounced Booton :-) Haha

I've said it many times, I can't keep up with local pronunciation... It's a minefield if you aren't from the area 🤣 I'll do my best and say it as I see it 😁 Thanks for watching Jeff

Thanks for watching, it took around 6 1/2 hours to cover the distance that day but we weren't pushing it. That includes getting to the southern part of Scarborough.

I've been corrected before on this while out running the Cinder Track 😁 It's hard to know how to pronounce local place names if you aren't a local, I just say it how I see it 🤣

@@DeanRead I have that problem here in Spain, even though I speak basic Spanish - the locals cannot understand my accent sometimes or how I pronounce things.
@DeanRead

Haha I can imagine the language barrier would add an extra level of complexity to pronunciation 😁
