In this new episode of Hawaii 100 Highest Peaks I climb Konahuanui (K1 Peak) again, but this time from the Windward side of Oa'hu, ascending Piliwale ridge. The return part of the loop is descending Nu'uanu saddle to the infamous Chimney and Pali Notches.
Piliwale ridge was pioneered by a 100% Hawaiian blood outdoors men called Silver Piliwale. The ridge got the name after him obviously.
This a strenous 0.7 mile asc ent with 2200 ft of elevation gain. Mostly a cardio workout with very few technical parts. Higher you get on the ridge, the overgrowth gets worst. Mostly to hike through uluhe fern, ie'ie vines and a lot of ginger.
If you want to know more just continue watching the video, it is fun, I promise!
