I’ve never thanked you for allowing me too be your one and only sparring partner while allowing me too get more pro. boxing experience before you fought and got the decision win over Marlon “ Magic Man “ Starling for the USBA Welterweight title, and for being a great human being towards me also. I worked with Johnny at the Lumber mill in Tacoma for a few weeks. Sad to hear he passed away. I used to talk with him at breal and on the bus into work He was a good guy!

Both these guys were superb fighters. I remember watching Starling fight Lloyd Honeyghan and just thinking "WOW"

Why!?! Honeyghan was NOT great. He elevated himself against Curry ONE TIME LOL. That was more like Destiny. Idc that he won a few afterwards. He just wasn't championship material to me.

This version of Johnny Bumphus was so much better than the one Looyd Honeyghan blew out a year later.

Honeyghan got WAY MORE juice than he should've because of the Curry fight. They actually put him in the P4P top ten for about 3 months after that fight LOL

I loved Bump’s style, great upper body movement and text-book punching.

The worst thing about this fight, is that the pre-fight interview clearly foreshadowed this ridiculous technical decision.

Bumphis got whooped and would have been KO'ed in the next few rounds. Bullshit decision. Duva pulling the cut open to get the fight stopped so Bumphis doesnt get KO'ed

@@sonofapollo5892 Good question. Seems he made that observation based on Duva's hotheadedness in the corner for most fights.

Marlon starling for robbed in this fight. Bumphus was ahead but starling would of stopped him because he was slowly beating bumphus down.
