You leave Black Panther feeling bad for Killmonger - now we know about the journals and approach, that character may have been totally different in the hands of another actor.

That is exactly right, and precisely what's so amazing about Michael B Jordan. I can't even believe he didn't want to be an actor at first (said so himself a bunch of times), but the amount of work he puts into his characters is just breathtaking. I think Killmonger was perhaps one of the best villains in a superhero movie ever, because his psychology as viewed by Jordan and Ryan Coogler is so charismatic and believable, almost sympathetic actually... I am sure this guy will pick up an Oscar at some point.

If you felt sorry for adult Killmonger there's something wrong with you. At the end of that movie you could feel bad for kid Killmonger, cause he got screwed, but adult Killmonger was a moron. And idiotic manchild without a single original idea in his head or moral fiber in his body.

ArisCarroll I guess I can see that? But without exposition about t’chaka, his reign as king, how it affected people like Erik, t’challa, shuri, etc. The big moments wouldn’t have been hard hitting. I mean fans understand eriks viewpoints (even if all of it wasn’t sound) better than T’challa. But t’challa also shows character growth and that just because he is king doesn’t mean he must rule as his father did. And so many other messages. I feel both male leads, did great in their roles. They made the characters from a comic book come to life just like RDJ with tony stark/Ironman.

moonwalkingthroughlife Just like DL G said, If you have the expectation that a movie will be on par with the book, then you’ll be disappointed every time. 451 is going to be on HBO, so it’s more of a way for people to get familiar with the story who haven’t already read the book. I’m assuming the goal is to get people interested in reading, not only the book, but just reading in general as opposed to taking all information at face value.

It wasn’t really his fault though. The writing for that movie was horrendous, but his own performance was perfectly serviceable.

That movie just had WAYYYY too much studio interference and 20th Century Fox trying to shoehorn their vision into someone else’s vision. The movie about MAKING the movie would be way more interesting than the actual movie.

I loved many of his characters but he wasn't one I would instantly recognize since he is soo good at becoming that character. Hearing his process I see why he is able to tap into a characters psyche. I look forward to seeing more movies with him in lead roles. He should also consider writing a novel since he has the ability to see different viewpoints and take into consideration any extenuating circumstances and is well spoken.

He pretty much made Black Panther. MCU had a villain problem for a while. I could hear the collective 'squeeing' when he was also called for Fahrenheit 451. Hopefully his new movie works out to be just as good.

A performance is what brings us to a movie and that is certainly him youre right... But he didnt make it. Not even. Ryan Coogler did with another hand on the script.

It's pretty cool how he didn't just quip at that Fahrenheit 451 question, he actually knows the subject and context of the work and paused for thought and gave a serious, thought-out answer. He seems genuinely thoughtful and knowledgeable. This man is a treasure.
