As a 12 year old kid, this was my dream project. Saw a plan in Popular Mechanic. An uncle of mine lent a motor but we were too poor for me to have a frame made, clutch etc. So I built a wood frame "cart" with a pulley tensioner as a clutch. Lawn mower wheels. No brakes of course. And it ran! So well that my Mom got scared and had me destroy it, and my uncle get his motor back. Darn. Thank you for sweet memories

what i like about you sir , is the fact you are a doo'er, you simply get on and fix, rather than the ones who walk around their shop talking about doing it. A true fixer upper artist.

You know how to tell there still an inner child inside of mustie1? At 12:22 you'll see that child come out. When he comes down the driveway and goes to stop and makes that noise. That cracked me up! How many thousands of times have we done that as children, And still do it as adults

Dunno if it's been said yet but the engine in the 'lil red scoot looks to me like a Techumseh version of the Suffolk 112cc mower engine those carbs with the huge diaphragm are pretty awful I don't know why they didn't put a 90 deg elbow on the inlet sticking the carb out of the side so the Delorto type carb could still be used, if it was an issue with the carb being trashed in a crash I suppose you could put the 90 deg elbow the other way round and extending it to miss the exhaust placing it under the tank out of harms way.

Sweet that the engine is 100% I have seen some crazy prices asked for Speedway bikes, Still I have seen similar running Rupp minibikes that bring in well over $1000 every time. I'd say dressed up a little that Speedway Sprint ought to get you $750 EASY... I did see one Speedway Mini that brought in $1500 but it was relisted... AND someone sold a Speedway Tecumseh like that one for $450!
@mustie110 жыл бұрын
think they can ask whatever, its what it sells for,
@MrComaToes10 жыл бұрын
True.. but older upscale minis like that are still worth more than the China junk that's out there plus someone sold a crummy old Monkey Wards mini for $560 bucks on ebay.

Too cool! Looks like a lot of fun...goes pretty good. I was wonderin'....you think that is the original/right drive belt for it? Maybe if it didn't have 'teeth' it wouldn't want to grab so much? just my usual 2 cents...
@dagwood6410 жыл бұрын
I don't know if it's the right belt or not but my speedway had the same type of belt on it. The clutch grabs the belt from the sides but I think once the belt polishes the variator plate, it might stop grabbing.
@rich203410 жыл бұрын
Tinker Jim Ya, yer right... didn't think of that , grabbin from the side.
