Skelton also always used to say 'I personally believe that each and every one of us was put here for a purpose; and that's to build and not to destroy. If by chance some day you're not feeling well and you should remember some silly little thing that I've said or done and it brings back a smile to your face or a chuckle to your heart then my purpose as your clown has been fulfilled.' It's too bad we all can't think that way, especially the way things are today.

@@douganderson7002 Do you really find the mindless repetition of swear words to be funny? What talent does it really take, Fuck! why didn't I think of that shit? To just swear every other word? For the great majority of comedians, I just always respond, is that the best you can do? I read somewhere once, actually it was on the label of a bottle of wine, something to the effect of, "A gentleman does not swear. This does not mean he is not acquainted with profanity, only that he typically has something better to say." Wouldn't you agree with that?

Red Skelton was one of the best comedians we had to make us laugh. His television show was surely fun to watch. And he always closed his show with "Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your evening. So, until next week, i'll say good bye and may God bless". Thank you, Red for being a part of our evenings and may God bless you. RIP Richard Skelton

Not only was Red Skelton a family-friendly, incredibly funny comic, but he was also amazingly multitalented. He composed over 60 full-length symphonies, as well as hundreds of songs. He was an accomplished multi-media artist who worked with pastels, oils, and sketches. Yet he was unpretentious, remaining humble and very generous. He was definitely one-of-a-kind.

Mr. Skeleton came to our town years ago and we laughed for 2 hours. Afterwards we sat a while to let the aisles clear some before leaving. Suddenly my wife pulled my are and pointed to a floor level door near the back of the stage. He was standing there alone just watching the people. We approached him and he eagerly greatest us, shook hands and signed our programs. We talked for a moment about our favorite characters. Suck a gentleman. So humble; no trace of star ego. Seemed genuinely pleased that we had come over to say how much we and our families always looked forward to his TV show. Still have the autograph. The only one I have ever asked for. Sure wish we had his kind of simple, clean humor today.

He always had a love for everyone and showed it. One BIG correction-he was a CLOWN and let you know it. Here is a quote "You are in my living room, and if any little thing I've said or done has brought a smile to your face, or a chuckle to your heart, then my purpose as your clown has been fulfilled...Thank you and God Bless!I thank God that He made Red Skelton a part of my life. I just loved this man's comedy! I sure miss it very much. No vulgar language or vulgar insinuations, just plain old clean comedy. It takes real talent to do this and Mr. Skelton sure had that talent. He is missed by many who truly loved his skill in comedy. Rest in peace.....

Carol Walters, thanks for your comment....for we have big dreams for the virtual museum we are building to honor the Baby Boomer Generation as seen through their awesome entertainers, comedians, musicians, athletes and sportscasters by posting 2300 hours of vintage content for all future generations to access.....and Red Skelton is by far the most viewed video by having over 1,000,000 views out of a total of 4,000,000 views to our site in 1.5 years. Red Skelton is obviously the most beloved of all, by a long shot....and fortunately, we have already posted at least a dozen videos of America's Clown Prince, then and forever.

Happy to hear of your project. You couldn't go wrong with Mr. Skelton being included. A God fearing man he was and his entertainment reflected that. I'm so happy that his comedy will be preserved for future generations to see and appreciate once they come to their senses and get their minds out of the gutter. Then they will realize that there is true beauty out there. You just have to look for it. Thank you.

You will never know how much inspiration your comment gives us at Ima Sportsphile to continue with our daunting task....as it will take us 4 - 5 years to finish posting. And, although we have shared our ultimate goal with just a few people close to us, when we have completed posting the entire vintage library, our site will be donated to a charitable foundation called Ima Sportsphile Acadamies....and any person can become a member of our virtual museum for $5/mo. and be able to access all 2300 hours of content.....and ALL money will go to building homes for children who have none....and our kids will grow up learning life using the tenaments of sports as their foundation. Our kids will have the opportunity to learn based on their own choices of what they are interested in, as we will provide educational cirriculums for sports science, sports medicine, sports nutrition, sports management, etc......so, from you bottom of our hearts, your comment has and will play a part in making this dream come true....THANKS AGAIN.

You know some things just don't need to change to suit the times. Just because people's taste change doesn't always mean it is for the better. Red Skelton performed in a time where there were more restrictions on what he could and could not say on TV and yet he was still funny. His subject matter would have been limited and still he bring forth laughter. I sincerely doubt that his audience was limited to one race but everyone who saw him laughed back then and still do now. I, too, grew up as a young child watching him on a black and white TV that had to be turned on five minutes before the show in order that it would be warmed up in time. His was one of the few shows for which my parents would make a bedtime exception. It was a real treat to be able to watch him. Sometimes the reminiscience was more about how everyone around you would laugh along with you and for that short time everyone could enjoy the same thing. He often played a fool on stage but his depth of character was deeper than people gave him credit. He valued life and made every day profitable and wasted very few minutes.

She lived in south Florida at the time, I sent it to her ASAP. She called me with tears in her Eyes and said it was the Most thoughtful thing anyone every gave to Her. When I was about 10 years old, he had Jane Mansfield on his show. When she came out, he gave a hug, and the sound effects man made this crunching noise. He stood back and said Oh no, "I've crushed them." Jane Mansfield almost crumpled to the floor, laughing. Then he reached inside his breast pocket and pulled out two cigars. My father had to explain to me what the actual joke was. We watched him all the time.

I grew up watching this great man , funny funny man and NOT a SWEAR word in any of his sketches todays comedians rely on bad words to get their point across sad really . His comedic style and grace are sadly missed

Tosca Libralato, thanks for your comment.....cuz what you said is the biggest reason for me posting hundreds of hours of comedy and comedians from times gone by on my webpage at www.imasportsphile.com ....for it is this lil ole chiweenie Sportsphile's belief that these folks who made us laugh so wonderously.....deserve a recorded place in history....for those of us who appreciate their talent to visit any time we want.
