In the olden days the grain mill was most often the “Heart” of a community. Here at Metcalf Mills our goal is not only the preservation and education of the grain milling process, but also to help provide a service and products that help make good, healthy, fresh milled goods more available to individuals and communities. And hopefully bring back some of that “Heart” and maybe a little more Love.

Enjoy seeing this. Have eaten molasses all my life. My grandpa made molasses but by the time I was born he no longer was able to do it. As a child my mom use to heat the molasses up on the stove, then she added a little soda I believe and it made them sort of foam. She called them puffs. We put butter in them and ate on a biscuit.

Can't wait for the biscuit part! I prefer my biscuits made with White Lily Self Rising, butter, and milk. If I really don't have time, I guess they are okay made with heavy cream instead of the butter and milk. But they turn out too sweat that way... But any day is a good day with a fresh biscuit and sorghum syrup.

It is a hard one to explain. Most if the time a person likes it or they don’t, and if they don’t its most likely what they had was just no good. I can’t really find any close to me that I like except what we make.
