Watching this in the sad knowledge that the irreplaceable Hilda will leave at end of the following year. So many of the all time greatest characters have already gone (Stan, Elsie, Ena, Eddie..) . Can't imagine it without Hilda. At least there are years still to come with Bet and Rita.

If you want to understand anything, you could have a go at how the writers expect us to believe brain of Britain Barlow had a Eureka moment courtesy of a childs suggestion of drawing a name out a box re the competition fiasco. And furthermore expecting the viewers to wear it as a realistic solution 😂

Gail does my head in, how dare she be all high and mighty when she cheated on her husband. She seems to have forgotten this. What a lovely person she is when she is using her child as a weapon against her husband. The Chinless wonder really is a right arse ;-)

Awww sally and Kevin looked lovely on their wedding 💒 day, I remember this episode (I’m in my late 50s now) but I love ❤️ watching the old ones as I’ve got many fond memories

Hilda really came into her own in 1986 , acting mediator between Kevin & Terry earlier in the year and for sticking up for Kevin & Sally here. Plus ,she helped re open the Rovers .

Stan did hit Hilda and she was scared of him in the 60s. She’s erased all that now, the evolution of their relationship as she got progressively stronger and he weaker was so well written across the years

I always remembered Ivy being the poisoness cow, but watching again, it is Gail who I cant stand. She is just a nasty character. Ivy at least had a good heart.

Ivy to me seems ok. Gail, Vera and Susan are all awful though. Ivy at times went a bit OTT over her religious beliefs but she always stood by her son when he was treated unfairly by Gail or anyone else.

2:08:20 Derek says he dislikes golf and can't play despite taking lessons. Yet just two years earlier In August 1984 (before the wedding that never was) he was entertaining Mavis at his house and said he played golf a lot and had a handicap of 22 which he said "wasn't bad"

Hilda told Sally that Stan never laid a hand on her, but in the early days he used to be violent towards her and their youngest children, who ended up being taken into care. Very different from later Stan, thankfully.

I loved wearing my beret hat in the 80s just like the one Sally’s bridesmaid (Witness) is wearing,it Would be great to see them back in fashion, I thought sally and Kevin Looked lovely on their wedding day.

In the 80’smy mother wrote a check for everything. She used them like I use my debit card today. Never ever use cash(although I probably should)

That was the done thing to write cheques for most things accompanied by a check card. There were no debit cards then.

Jesus! That crate-egg Sally. She gets the idea of a partnership with Brian. Now, Kevin can't walk in the door, without being asked for a progress report. Meanwhile, they don't have a pot a to piss in, and Brian has already told Kevin, he'll need 5 grand, to buy in.
