Ben Simmons had a less than stellar season last year and is notoriously one of the most disrespected players in the NBA... Is it finally time for the point guard / center to return to All-Defense or even All-NBA form and turn his career around? #basketball #nba #commentary

I thought I was the only believer in Ben Simmons left. With this roster I could see him being a super impactful player. Even if he only averages ~10ppg, he's always been elite at creating efficient shots for his teammates (iirc the sixers shot 3 percentage points better on threes with him on the floor) and the Nets need exactly that, to say nothing of being able to defend 1-5 pretty well.

I think the hard part is the mental aspect. Cause if it’s all mental and he has to think about overcoming then that will inevitably be a mental load on him that distracts from his play making. Thereby making it harder for him to play make and go back to what he once was. I think most people who are just fans of basketball are rooting for Ben though, we want to see basketball played at its best and he was part of that. Hate having to see his career go like this.

I really hope Ben can be as good as he used to be just cause the Nets have so much potential. I loved watching Ben play before and Mikal is one of my favourite players. I’m not too concerned if he doesn’t improve though because him being basically untradeable is almost beneficial to the Nets. His contract is up the same season Giannis could opt out of his player option. If the Bucks prove they can’t be successful with their current roster, there’s a chance he could leave and personally, I would love to see Giannis in Brooklyn. Him, Mikal, Cam Johnson, and Nic Claxton could be insane together. They only need a playmaker from there

The biggest question is what the spacing looks like on the floor. Ben is no threat from outside of 10 feet most of the time. The issue is in the paint where you have him and Claxton with no good interior spacing. Ben not being able to hit 30% or more from jumpers/threes will hurt this team when it comes to the playoffs. Can’t see them beating BOS, PHI, MIL, or MIA if they continue w this lineup. I’d be interested to see if you could pick up a true point guard and run Ben off the bench for defense and transition baskets.

I’m from Philadelphia and my issue with him claiming mental health is the timing of when he came out with that. The Eagles just had one of their best offensive linemen out for a couple weeks and no one knew why. He came out and said he had been having mental health issues and that’s why he was out. LESS THAN A WEEK LATER, after using almost any other excuse up to that point, Ben claimed mental health issues. The timing was very very poor. It looked like he saw how well it went for this other guy and decided to use this as a new excuse. That being said, he definitely now has serious mental issues.

Yes. He's 6'9 dam. I'd be better than MJ I'd be the goat if I was 6'9! Ben got the talent and size just gotta have the same mentality and drive.

Ben doesn’t need to be an amazing offensive player. Take a page out of Draymond green book. Focus on defense, playmaking & the overall impact

looool cap. He'd be lucky to average 10/5/5. He averages anything above 15/5/5, i will come here and apologize myself.

This is comical! Ben is my favorite player so I’m biased but let’s be honest; Ben even at his best so far wasn’t putting up mind blowing stats. 16/8/8 while playing great defense isn’t that hard to reach (pause).

If he has confidence issues, first thing he needs to do is get off social media and turn off the tv. Focus on staying healthy and his defense, playmaking and athleticism. Once all that is back, maybe we can think about some jumpshots. Oh, and it would be nice if he became a really good rebounder.

Already been 3 years he's been a bum lol. Its too late for him. Even if he miraculously averages 14/7/7, still a tarnished legacy.
