She’s too honest if anything, people always hate on her but ATEOD you don’t know the truth about what happened, no one does but the evidence clearly wasn’t strong enough for her to be convicted or even tried of anything. Aside from that, she’s had a very turbulent life but undeniably she’s a legend in music.

She stole the costume from a lesser know and who sued her. Their looks were baby doll dresses with a gothic heavy rock. If you see the band you see its not creative elabration but just copyig. Her sinnging is awful here. Infact it sounds like someone gave anyone a guitaar and told them to sing when they were drunk on a stage. I dont like her as shes such a liar and a raging narcissist. Probably would have been intelligent if she didnt take drugs. I thik she has a weak sense of self and thats why yu see the grab for atention through disgust and horror. Im glad her daughter has turned out ok but shes used most of her inheritance ive heard.

Viy’zap Xserve’iwakura hi, so i’m actually a huge hole/courtney fan..of both her music, her style, just her whole essence. however, even as a fan, there’s no denying whatsoever that she completely ripped off kat of babes in toyland who invented the sort of kinderwhore look/riot grrrl sound as it’s called. they were the firsts to do it..courtney just took it for herself and managed to make it blow up. courtney was actually friends with kat but had a falling out with the band and was petty and did this. even as a fan, it’s okay to admit your idols did some really shitty things. look into it if you’re so bothered by it lmao

The material Hole made in the early 90's was so real, powerful, raw, unique. I don't know anything else like it. And it was good music. I was annoyed when their newer stuff sounded so pop. now realize that Pretty On Inside was a product of someone in a particular time, and not the sort of thing that would be reproduced.

Impending divorce was a close second to his heroin addiction. She also has said so herself and many close friends of the two have said the same. I could go on for a while but it’s completely understandable why people don’t like her.

Honestly as much as I dislike Courtney as a person, I do love her authenticity. And the fact that everybody in her late husband’s circle hated her (especially his friends) just makes her Punk-Rock. I remember being mind-blown when I first heard of Live Through This as a 14 year old. I revisited the album after I got out of an abusive relationship. There is something cool about her and she has been my fashion inspo since high school. She might not be the nicest person but hey she makes great songs and that’s good enough for me.

Gosh, I've been listening to this music since it came out and still to this day, it has merit. So much of what came after the early 90s has eclipsed and distorted and diluted this music and the music of similar artists. But regardless of any of the Hollywood stuff, or fads, or analysis this music was pure cathartic victory. There were so many young people, being abused, severely bullied, and rejected by both their families and society itself. Teenage suicide was nothing more than a day off of school and shameful glares. Kids who were abused were often met with scorn if they did manage the courage to tell someone. And bullying ( I mean the severe physical and mental kind, which nowadays would get a student put into legal trouble, let alone expelled) was simply " part of growing up" and every day, severe torment inflicted on innocent kids was tolerated, ignored, and even instigated by the adults in charge. You had to find inner strength to literally stand up against a world that was against you. And for all you knew, the whole world was- for there was no internet to meet like minded people with ease, no online forms to give a sense of belonging in the world. This music and other bands like Hole helped so many kids like me cope. Through it, our feelings were validated, our rage and pain a kind of battle cry from the speakers of the stereo. And it was pure and vicious and crushing and victorious and absolutely hopeful. Time changes people, but art is eternal. And for this music I am eternally grateful.

I'm so with you.... I couldn't have comprehended the internet when I was in school. I felt so isolated and alone, and a million miles from where this music was that I felt so much as I didnt grow up in the US. I live in the US now, and with the internet it's crazy how close things seem.

I have always thought this too, and it's not something people often mention. She's always had highbrow aspirations as an artist, but she's also very relatable to a lot of outsiders because her flaws have been widely distributed for public consumption. She is a walking bundle of contradictions (as we all are), and she has no filter-she's always let her freak flag fly. The people who respond to her music identify with her rage as much as they do her vulnerability.

I got to see HOLE play at the 1999 big day out in melbourne, & they were fucking awesome! 'LIVE THROUGH THIS' has got to be one of the best albums of the 90's! But I didn't really get into their newer album 'CELEBRITY SKIN', have they done anything else since that? Or is Courtney just working as an actress now?

She did have some work done by this point, a couple of nose jobs. But yes, she was beautiful. And young here. I believe her late 20s/early 30s. People say Frances is Kurt's twin, and she is in some ways. But I see SO much Courtney in her, especially her face shape, lips, eyes. She has Kurt's nose and chin which is exactly what Courtney wanted. Lol.

she seems to make life so hard on herself. She's really intelligent but probably gets herself worked up about stuff, especially where Kurt's money goes it seems. She makes stupid decisions like the rest of us and gets so much hate for it.

Does anyone know the date/location of the performance at 7:57? It's a beautiful performance of "Doll Parts", I'm curious because I'd like to see if I could track down a bootleg of the show. Kristen Pfaff is in the background on bass, so it would have had to have been in 1993, as that was her only year in the band before she died.

In the early nineties thift store diving was different and the prices were cheap..I remember being able to get a bag of clothes for one dollar, whatever you could fit in the bag. I remember finding all kinds of clothes and dresses that i would never find in a thrift store today.

This is amazing and really deserves more views. At some times it seems as though they are talking to someone who's on a crazy drug trip, yet everything she says makes sense. It's a shame things turned out how they did, what with drugs and Kurt and all that shit. She could have actually still been a respectable member of the entertainment industry, who knows.

Too bad she did "destroy" herself (plastic surgery) to get the football captain so to speak. Plus, Francis also changed her nose. I wonder if she talked Francis into plastic surgery cuz she hated her own nose. I liked her original face. She didn't need to change it. I wish she still could perform, but she burnt out fast (her voice, guitar). She was incredible, Pretty on the Inside is still my fave, the best album in my opinion. She gave into celebrity, which is what she wanted I know, but it leaves a bad taste how she name drops her celeb friends. Can I please go back in time!?? Please?
